The guy did a better job with his pennies than Kleopatra did with her gold coins on Numérobis.

There is another one off story: a man went into his bank, with pennies, to payoff his mortgage, maybe 10s of thousands or 100k, anyway the bank refused. The man’s mortgage was discharged, because in the contract it stated that at anytime if the bank “refused” payment. the mortgage would be considered paid in full. The lawyers then started to look and all mortgages and the contracts for the bank.

I used to be a parking warden, and I once saw a guy do that. He said it was his right. What he forgot was that it’s also the cashier’s right to count it all.

Since I worked in a bank for most of my life, I can explain that a huge amount of coins of any denomination may put a strain on the bank branch. Large amounts of coins could only be brought to us if they were rolled. Then they could only be shipped out if they were bagged. Later we got a coin counter and it helped.
