Doesn’t he even get to pick his own tux?

For our local High School prom this year the guys wore dark suits, plaid, checked or striped shirts in their dates dress color and wild Deion Sanders ties!

I went to David’s Bridal for my prom dress and while I was picking out a dress, I tried on a wedding dress for fun and my Mom cried

I say either get him a neater haircut, like you got everything else, or let him go in his jeans and t-shirt. .

Isn’t this what the other guys will be wearing?

Elly reminds me of my own mother—trying to keep her grown son controlled and infantilized.

However my mother was mentally ill; what’s Elly’s excuse??

Nobody does that anymore – except perhaps in fancy private schools. A lot of graduating seniors wear their regular clothes under the gowns. This was drawn 30 years ago.

Michael’s deformed head makes an appearance in the second panel.

It must be nice to be so rich to have your maid dress you in your evening wear, but why does the maid have to wear a uniform that looks like a housewife’s?

At least it’s not lavender!!!!!!

Two things I wish: That I would have had a ‘tux’ to wear to a prom and that I had had a prom to which to wear it ! ! !

Don’t forget the plastic rental shoes. Now, act natural. Act being the operative word. Behave, or else, is sternly implied.

Elly doesn’t have children. She has dolls that she gets to play with when the mood strikes.

Hence, the creation of the phrase, Monkey Suit.

Going to a military academy is not easy. However, one upside is that their dances is where girls have their dates wear formal military dress uniform.

I got a suit for the Graduation stuff, but I only had so much money so I got a nice suit, vice a tux, so that I could wear it to a job interview later. I think I still have that suit around here somewhere. It would probably still be good for an interview.

Mike’s worries have only just begun. Mom plans for him to get a new haircut, too ;-)

This made me look up what a cummerbund is. I had no idea.

Why does he need help? From him mom, or did he just realize he’s graduating and real life is just around the corner?

I thought a Canadian tuxedo was all denim?

Time flies!

My son bought a suit. Doubt he ever wore it again.

I made my prom dress and also my wedding dress. My parents didn’t even take pictures of me, let alone help me dress. No sisters, either.

Flash forward to Liz’s wedding, and John doesn’t like wearing a tux either.

This strip shows Michael being in distress for some reason. The comments say John hated wearing formal attire. There is a logical explanation why:

Neither John nor Michael have ever seen a James Bond film.

Some men put on a tux and feel like a million dollars and some just feel awkward.

As with education, good taste is wasted on the young.

Why doesn’t Ellie do his hair for him while she’s at all the fussing. It’s pathetic that a kid can’t even choose their own clothes or dress themselves when they’re as old as Michael. I’m glad he goes away to university in this comic strip (spoiler) away from mommy.

“Help!” as in, “This is getting all too real. I can’t believe I’m almost an adult!!”

I could only wish my NM cared enough to fuss over me at all ever.

18 years old, and after Mom dresses him he still can’t go to the bathroom and fix his tux right afterwards.

Michael’s lucky he can get a graduation party. I didn’t.

I agree Mike ask for help, he’s making that suit look bad!
