On the other end of the spectrum, I never rode the school bus because we lived just around the corner from my elementary and junior high (what it used to be called) schools and I rode with friends to high school. But when I had a job that called from many situations to ferry my special needs students to job sits and learned how to ride the city bus, I felt like I had missed out on the experience and the camaraderie I did NOT experience while growing up.
