I have a similar arrangement with my little flock of six budgies. I feed them, make sure they have water, give them a nice big cage with comfortable perches and let them come out and fly around the apartment when I’m home … and in exchange they make happy sounds all day to keep me in a good mood.

And I can talk!

Everything was ok until somebody had to pick up the poop.

All dogs welcome here. Humans, not so much.
