Peaking too soon is a real thing. I used to go out with a woman whose previous boyfriend had won an Academy Award (trademark symbol – whatever) at an early age. It ruined his life because he was certain he would never be able to top that.

This is exactly the decision-making process Wash DC uses to “not win” the last five wars. Lure them into our wonderful plan. Then when we fail, we can blame it on First Tiger Hobbs. With this kind of wizardry of genius thinking, I look forward to seeing Calvin as a future Joint Chief of Staff, (of course, from a distant side-line…)

If for no other reason, Susie would wonder why Calvin be writing Hobbes a note since she sees him as nothing other than a stuffed tiger. Of course, she wonders a lot of things about Calvin’s strange behavior.

Ironic that Calvin’s writing is the straightest and cleanest when it’s backwards.

Make sure Hobbes has a camera, to record your ultimate humiliation!

By an amazing coincidence, as I read this strip I’m listening to Marshall Crenshaw’s backwards “Rouh Na Selim Neves” from Miracle of Science.

I like how Calvin’s handwriting looks more neat and clean when he’s writing backwards.
