So since he said it in the past tense, does this mean in this day and age that the morning stars are NOT singing together any longer?? Well, at least the evening stars are still singing together. Thank heavens for that.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Viktor Frankl.
The weather could be bad. You can choose to feel miserable about it or you can choose to get on with your day. The weather is still bad. The only difference is how YOU choose to feel about it.
And while I am at it. Never let anyone else choose your emotions for you.
Whereas everything Linus is true biblically, perhaps he was a little to quick to judge what Charlie Brown said so harshly. I don’t think Charlie Brown meant it as a criticism of the world.
the best part of that book of the Bible is Job 42:1-6 imho – modern day translations give it some real kick and I wish more people would repeat it with understanding.
I think the book of Job totally cops out on having any answer to why God allows human suffering. “You don’t have the right to ask” is a terrible answer, in my opinion.
That seems like a lot of panels even for a Sunday strip…and even back when it originally ran. Today, I wonder how many print publications edited it for length. I’m sure they at least removed the masthead.
Today’s Peanuts has brought to mind a book I read many years ago called The Gospel According to Peanuts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gospel_According_to_Peanuts

I love how Charles M. Schulz put Biblical quotes in his Sunday strips, without sounding at all preachy. The last line is especially thought provoking.

Spare us the poetic wisdom, Linus. All Charlie Brown did was say that the weather has been bad.

When you feel sad, or under a curse
Your life is bad, your prospects are worse
Your wife is sighing, crying
And your olive tree is dyin’
Temples are graying, and teeth are decaying
And creditors weighing your purse…
Your mood and your robe
Are both a deep blue
You’d bet that Job
Had nothin’ on you
Don’t forget that when you get to
Heaven you’ll be blessed
Yes, it’s all for the best!
