Marcie is not showing her best self…

And Floyd never appears again in a Peanuts comic strip, although he shows up in the crowd on a couple of TV shows.

Having created characters myself, I know that they often take on personae you never planned for them. I’m certain that when Sparky first created Marcie that he never dreamed she would become such a live wire.

If he remembers where she got on the camp bus, will he be waiting there when she returns and follow her home?

And considering that he considers it a term of endearment, does he he now think: “She called me Lambcake”?

Have we ever heard Marcie’s full name? I know that Peppermint Patty’s full name is Patricia Reichardt.

His love foiled by a technicality!

And with that last panel, the irony is that Marcie is the only one here who did use the word “lambcake” sarcastically.

Floyd’s “lambcake” is a bit of a fruitcake!

I like him, too!

Time was when you COULD actually open some bus windows and talk. Now, not so much…

Somewhere in a Florida nursing home, an 85 year old Floyd sits, broken and alone, never having loved or been loved.

Marcie is an author now, her best seller was “Lambcake’s Revenge”.

That’s the way it goes , Lambcake !

and Floyd will hate all girls/women who wear glasses!!

There’s a lot of Lucy in Marcie…

Now, Marcie can enjoy some her summer. And he’ll have to find another girl to beat up on him.

Just send the mail to “Marcie, c/o General Delivery” and hope for the best.

I still remember my first girlfriend ….. she was cute and very logical and we were good friends ……. So one day She said your a boy and we’re friends, right …. which I said yes and I’m a girl and I’m your friend ………… SO …….“Your my Boyfriend and I’m your Girlfriend” ………… so I said sure …………… then that summer her Father changed job and they moved away …….. always wondered how she made out …… :)

Marcie is me right now. Not interested in any kind of relationship that has the potential to do any more damage to my already thready psyche. Just because she isn’t ready for a relationship, very aware that she is a child and not looking to hook up, doesn’t mean anything.

And years from now, when Floyd grows up and marries a millionairess,Marcie will be sorry she trifled with his affections.

And 50 years later Marcie is thinking about summer camp and remembers him. She feels a little tug of regret as she recalls her foolish behavior and hopes that she did not hurt him.

Quite the relationship style, there Marcy. Never knew this side of her before.

Marcie loves Charlie Brown but this fellow might have been her soulmate. Just think of the stories they could tell their grandchildren!

That first failed romance can be pretty rough on one.

And kinda mean.

Poor little fella. Couldn’t get the hint. She’s just not into you. Now that I have been happily married for 22 years and with children, I remember my preteen and teen years were filled with many rejections. I moved on and found another. Until I found the one for life.

Who would have guessed that the last boy to ask her out would be the last boy to ask her out?
