Fortunately for Tracy & Sam, they’re dealing with two of the dumbest crooks in the history of the world with Madsen & Audie, any other crooks, after shooting somebody involved in their scheme, would either make sure he was dead, even if that meant killing him in his hospital bed, or else hightailing it out of town. But since Madsen & Audie have the combined I.Q. of a piece of stucco, they’re just waiting around for Anders to regain consciousness & dime them out.
I just knew Madcaps was in the data base. After taking the cross town and a coupla transfers MC will be at Audie’s office which by the time he gets there they will have gone home for the day but this being Tracyville where people work round the clock Audie will still be there. Looks like our girl Sabrina will be there to witness the Madcap rage on Audie unless she finally gets out to where the callers are, to do whatever it is she does. Is Sprocket getting suspicious yet ? Adam Austin is having quite the layover.
Is this whole story taking place over 3 days, Tracytown time ?
Anders went the long way around on giving Tracy what he needs so that now he can get traction on this case. After Leech there is still Audie and Sabrina with bonus points if Susan is there when they come ‘a knocking’.
Well, now they finally have the face to put behind the bullet. The mad one was too busy sipping the sauce to go to the hospital and finish finish off Anders before he put the ID on him. Now if the coppers just hightail it to the TV station (finally) they may catch all of the criminals in one place.
“No, Sam! We’re not stopping for a pastrami! GET WITH THE PROGRAM, DAG-NABBIT!!”
….not unlike the Three Stooges episode where the guys are patting themselves on the back for solving some wing-ding caper, when the gorilla they’d been running in terror from earlier walks up and says: “I helped!”….?
OT: Sounds as if my hometown got hit by a major storm ‘Thousands out of power, massive damage’. Wonder if my old home, which dates to the 1800s, got damage?
Leeland Madsen it is, then, nickname, “(The) Leech”! (BTW, one of my first bosses was named Leland, with one “e”; at what is now again called the Field Museum, Chicago—E. Leland Webber, Secretary [nowadays we’d probably say Director, or COO, or maybe even CEO] of the then “Chicago Natural History Museum”). Leeland is identified for Tracy by the victim, Anders (who appears to be recovering), as the shooter who attempted murder.
We seem for now to be zoned in on the Leech as the prime target of the MCU, and the Call Center scam is all but forgotten, at least for the moment. Bye bye, Sprocket “Susan” Nitrate, with no consequences? And even more, farewell to the prison scene opening of this arc, featuring the monologuing Silver Nitrate and a host of incarcerated Baddies….

Twilight sleep is wearing off. Fades now the medication
Fog does slowly dissipate like Anders’ reservation.
Gunshot wound did change his world. Time now for soul inspection
Dick Tracy’s questions ring out clear. Shared facts assist detection.
Tracy’s seen this scene before: escaping death and yet
Fresh reflection on events brings sorrow and regret.
Too late to balk. Now time to talk. Anders finds his speech
Who did shoot at point blank range? Was Madsen, known as “Leech.”
Grab up more dough. Soon time to go. Last stop and then vamoose
Shake the dust off of his shoes. Escape both town and noose.
Madsen knows just how it goes when blood begets more blood
Trouble starts with a few drops and soon there is a flood.

Good morning™, everyone!
It’s interesting that Anders was very insistent on spilling the beans. So, now we are formally introduced to “Leech” — nice name!

Now Tracy and Sam know who they are looking for. Now is Madsen going to take a Greyhound bus out of town after collecting his money.

Wow! Despite the pacing, the writer is actually doing a procedural! This shooting may lead to even DEEPER criminal activity, tied to the phone scam.

A Tracy villain named “Leech” I would expect to have a big sucker face, rather than just messy hair and an amusing first name mashup.

1-DR. NOICE: May I take your hat. DT: Over my dead body, Nurse. DR. NOICE: Call me a “nurse” again and I’ll make that happen.
2-ANDERS: What do you want? DT: My Smart Watch says my blood pressure is low…
3-…That nice nurse said that a lot of blood probably pools in my massive chin and never gets to my brain. Makes sense. Well – see ya around.
4-SAM: CALLING TRACY! I’VE ID’d OUR SUSPECT FROM THE LICENSE PLATE…
5-…HE’S A YOUNG SEAN PENN FROM FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH *DT: Good work. Now book me a flight to Hollywood – pronto!
SAM: Will do, Lone Ranger. DT: I said “pronto”, not Tonto. SAM: Roger that, Kimosabe! DT: sigh

So, will Madsen be getting a red shirt from Augie, or an orange jumpsuit from Tracy?

Based off what we’ve seen so far, “Leech” is a perfect nickname for Leeland Madsen.

“Leech” is a great nickname. Why hasn’t Audie and Sabrina been using it instead of calling him “Madsen”?
