Those hat boxes are actually filled with sand – that’s how she developed such big arms.

By the end of windy days, Maria empty hat boxes were always full.

Mary knew to do her Christmas shopping early – The other early shoppers were just heading in and she was already done.

/// When the forceful Parisian wind blows,

Colette catches each hat when it goes.

    Places each in a box

(which she’s weighed down with rocks)

to be sold as Collette’s Used Chapeaux.

People learned why she was called the “Black Widow” when they found out what was in those hat boxes.

The male chauvinists at the music store wouldn’t sell Viola Smith drums, so she had to practice on hatboxes.

Madame la Guillotine, aka Dan, liked to carry her treasures around in hat boxes. She was careful that the strong Paris winds didn’t blow the lids off, thus avoiding a tête-à-tête with the Sûreté.

I wonder if ladies had trouble navigation doorways when huge shoulder blooms (someone will tell me what they’re really called) were in fashion.?

    not a single gust yet/

Milliner on the Pont des Arts

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Steps in Paris" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string Modiste, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting. Other versions has the strip coloration image.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #1588 (November 25, 2016) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with my comment pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 11 works by him have been used here (17 times total, including this repeat and 5 prior ones), the November 25, 2016, strip being its first use. The February 7, 2019, strip has the prior non-repeat by him.

She was bound for the Gare du Nord/

With more hats for her growing hoard../

    Twas her regular route/

    But she hit the commute

And was painfully trampled and gored..///

    She’s lucky to be alive/

For Paris is a teeming hive/

    And she’s far too petite/

To be out on the street/

In the hours around nine and five..
