It takes a certain type of player with a certain characteristic to pull off this murder. When investigating a whole baseball team, there may be more than one…
Various leagues allow 22 to 26 players on a team’s roster. That’s a lot of suspects to interview. And let’s not forget managers, position coaches, owner(s), disappointed fans, and that cute reporter who was trying to get a real news story and the jerk kept making sexist remarks… There’s going to be some way to narrow down the suspects real fast.
And, of course, we should probably assume that the murder happened after the locker room fight broke up two hours ago. If the killing took place in a fit of anger during the locker room brawl it meant everyone ignored the body on the floor.
Guest artist Sagara has Sam sporting a derby instead of his usual homburg. Meanwhile, Tracy’s already bored with the case and has pushed his own chapeau down over his eyes to catch a few quick winks….
I really like the art detail. It’s hard to draw a baseball glove. And the manager’s stance in the third frame is incredibly authentic. Bad knees from playing the game.
1-DT: Who are you and why are you here? MANAGER: I am the Walrus, goo goo ga choo. READ THE JACKET! I’M THE MANAGER! DT: Oh. Yeah. Well, what happened here?
2-MANAGER: OH MY… ONE OF MY PLAYERS GOT KILLED, YOU IDIOT!
3-…That’s him on the floor. DT: Uhh, yes. I see. What do you make of it, Sam?
SAM:OBVIOUSLY, he ill advisedly decided to nap on the floor and after snuggling up in a sheet, the other players didn’t notice him and stepped on him to death. ACCIDENTAL DEATH!
DT: EXCELLENT, SAM! Let’s celebrate! Where’s the Victory Cooler, Manager? MANAGER: We don’t need one.
So what, is this a deleted scene from The Natural? Which one is Roy Hobbs, I hope he wasn’t killed. I mean, this is The Knights and that sure looks like Pop Fisher doing the managing.
44 ? That doesn’t look like Reggie Jackson ! If the mystery was who killed Billy Martin then he would be the main suspect !!! (Billy Martin died in a car accident but I was using their relationship)
OT: Well, darn. Seems I did manage to break a bone in my hand. As it hurts and is clumsy, editing for the next couple of weeks (at least) should be a REAL treat.
Keep in mind that men are mortal. How old is Mike Curtis and the members of Team Tracy? They look to keep the value of the asset up, and to “try out” replacements for the team, thus Minit Mysteries.
As the set-up description by the CSI of the victim’s injuries seems to point toward a left-handed perp, it is significant that today we see left-handed 44 (Another Take, above, may be right, too, in calling him a first baseman, as that looks like a first baseman’s mitt he’s wearing) confronting several teammates, most notably the hairy-forearmed finger-pointer in the center of panel 2. Is hairy here the victim?
The game’s afoot, so let’s allow this to play out! I’m in for the full nine innings….

The story seems to be off to a good start at least. It takes time to tell it.

The glove itself isnt “heavy” enough to cause the fatal injury…unless he was struck several times

I usually HATE Minit Mysteries, but as a baseball fan I’ll try to get interested in the subject matter.
Deserted spots to commit murder are tough to find in clubhouses.
