The third one resembles something called ‘fly amanita,’ and offers toxic after effects. The euphoria is only the least of its dangers.

The red mushroom with the white spots that you see in children’s books and in the strip above is known as fly agaric or fly amanita. In Icelandic, it’s called a Berserker mushroom. It’s said to be what the Berserkers ate to get high before a battle.

MUSHROOMS GOT GENDER!!

I thought it made plumbers grow big and that the green ones give extra lives!

I HATE mushrooms. When my wife tries to talk me into eating them she always says “You can’t taste them!” Not a compelling argument for any food. But it’s the texture I hate. That, and the fact they grow in crap!

That’s a lot more than I wanted to know.
