Way WAY back when women teachers were supposed to be virginal our happily married high school math teacher became pregnant. She had intended to take at least a year off. The school hired a guy who was still serving out his time in the Marines… and they (of course) decided to keep him in for another 3 months. So we had her for Algebra II from her (seemed like) 7th month to her 10th or so… she was really big! And she had a baby pool-float-ring to sit on. Someone (I’m NOT telling who) replaced it with a flatulator.
“Flatu-phone”? Never heard that one. Or “flatulator” (thanks, Erse IS better!) but it must be the same as a Whoopie Cushion — oh, avoiding the use of a brand name?
Dr. Spaetzle is right. When we oldsters step out of our comfort zones and try something new, we just do it to see how it fits, while others make a ‘thing’ of it. But, that’s ok. Our change-up gives others a different view of us and maybe jars them out of complacency over what they have come to take for granted about our personalities.
