No worries, just start your own Snapgram account focusing on shoe polishing, sewing, preparing turnips, pleasing your mother, and whining. A handful of freaks out there are bound to follow it. That’ll show her.

When there’s a breakup, you hope that you’re ex felt enough to be sad, too. That’s normal.

It’s rather a pity we’re being shown only Gunther’s regrets about the breakup and the lost opportunity to enjoy a cosplay event. But at this point he ought to be preparing actively for the impending semester that begins the next week, acquiring books, lab materials, and/or software insofar as these are identified and published in advance for the courses for which he has registered. He ought to be combatting his emotional disappointment by plunging fully into the distraction of academic activity — which, presumably, he also enjoys. He might reconnect with old friends. He might even encounter new ones, though perhaps he is not yet quite ready to pursue any of them. One might wonder that none of the old friends has shown up to help Gunther find other things to think about; but perhaps they, too, are busy preparing for schoolwork.

Tell her how much you miss her, fool!

Did they really break-up? Or did Gunther decided to stop the cosplay and prioritize the benefits of staying at home?

Gunther unhappy is always crowd pleaser – he’s controlling, somewhat manipulative, and generally unpleasant. I honestly don’t know what Bets and Rosa saw in him. Yay for schadenfreude! Cut those turnips Gun! Bwahaha!!

Gunther now admit that he and Bets are no longer together. It’s nice to see this progress, even if he’s sad about how happy Bets can be without him. Whether she really is or it’s just a show is unknown, but Gunther is sure it’s real. The comparison between what he’s doing and what Bets is doing is hilarious, maybe he should have followed her in her tour to see the Cons of North America. Maybe it would have been a life changing experience, but he preferred to go back to studying. He should take Les’ advice and stop follow her, but I doubt he will. Gunther still likes Bets and he definitely wants to read the comments on the costumes he made.

Well, she’s certainly not sneaking around to sleep with you and getting the cold shoulder from Irma and Al. She certainly not dealing with the drama in the dorm. Being free to go and do as you please has its advantages……..for a while. Fly on Free Bird!

So, we are getting more info here, and it verifies my suspicions, so far. Colossalcon is in Ohio, so it seems that indeed she decided to go to Canada because she was getting closer to the borders (and probably because she no longer had Gunther with her – I think we can all agree he is very unlikely to have had his passport with him).

And Gunther is questioning HIS decision. Pair this with the whole questioning about whether they broke up or not, and what we have here is Bets wanting to go on, Gunther wanting to go back, and both of them doing what they wanted to regarding the travelling – no discussion about their relationship.

Also, too many comments question whether Gunther should get a new girlfriend or not. Forget girlfriends, Gunther needs to get a LIFE! He desperately craves for one (as we see here), which is why he follows on other people’s adventures. But in the end, his comfort zone remains Irma, the Gulag, and things like polishing his shoes.

Well, at least he will be first to arrive in class, shoes polished, notes organized, new pens and everything in duplicate, in case a pen malfunctions and he misses a word (point stands even if he uses a laptop for note-taking, because OMGwhatifitbreaks???) He’ll be (un)happily in the comfort zone.

It’s fun reading the rhyming pantameter of Les’s comments in panels one and two, and his punch line in panel 3, but this is a Wednesday transition strip today. Gunther’s conflicted feelings are on display, Bets is portrayed as only focused on memorializing her adventures on her social media feeds, nothing new. I think I see light somewhere ahead though.

So, apparently, if you’ve changed your mind about ordering the book on their trip, you’re SOL.

I find myself wondering if this is a last fling for betts who’ll realize how empty it all is without him there.

As mentioned earlier, Bets has made smiley face for the camera when she’s not happy. Gunther is questioning his decision to come back for school instead of staying on the road with her. I’m sensing a upcoming scenario where Gunther goes to ColossalCon to be with Bets and she comes back to school to be with Gunther. It’s the improbable sort of thing that’s done for laughs in fictional worlds.

I think Gunther is misinterpreting the updates. Bets is not the taunting type, I believe. I think she wants to share her joy with him. I think Gunter should stay the course at least for the nonce. He could also text back his pleasure at her joy.

So he doesn’t have classes to attend. Other than the pretensive art instructor and the creative writing class there has been little mention of any of the characters attending class/studying.

Technically Bets could be working, not vacationing. It happens to some people who have enough followers and end up with incomes higher than regular jobs. Bets job is to entertain and no surprise has to act on her part.

My read on this is that he thinks she’s left him. We don’t know what she thinks. She may think they are still a couple. They seemed very happy together back in the strip where they returned from the trip.

Bets looks happy without Gunth because she wasn’t happy with him. Her life is her followers/fans… she’d be lost in a monogamous relationship.

Poor Gunther, he’s just not mature enough at this stage to be in a relationship with the opposite gender. Remember, he is only 19 or 20 at this point. Let’s hope he makes a smooth transition to adulthood.

Bets and Gun will get back together again. Sure, she looks happy, because she’s in her element. But how many people with seemingly perfect lives on Instagram (or any other social medium) are perfectly miserable off of it? I’d be willing to bet she’s simply putting on a face for her followers; she misses him as much as he misser her.

Time to move on, she did. It was good while it lasted, at least most of the time, and that’s the best you can hope for. That’s a good thing, but time for the next chapter for both of you.
