Hellfire update. How can I put this? Picking him up is like trying to hold onto a slinky made of Jell-o. Once I have him he grunts. Grunts! I think my cat is “special”. He is learning to cat from the boys and the dogs so we’ll see how he turns out. From sick feral kitten to ???
I do like this quick recap for people who haven’t read the online archives. (And for younger readers not might be able to).
For those also needing the full juicy details on him and baba: They dated years and years ago, back when Baba lived at Quinn Animal Shelter. Wicket used her to get closer to the other animals then convinced her to run away with him once the owner of the shelter, Freddie Quinn, caught on to who he truly was. They lasted about a week before Wicket abandoned Baba with a turkey on a beach. Baba eventually made her way to the farm, met Burt’s grampa, and here we are.
Puckmosis: Looks like the Godspeed has put into the harbor.
Elvis-Anum: It’s the day to remember all those who were affected on this date.
Beatrixia: I’ll go get Her Majesty.
Sometime Later
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Welcome, Captain Courageous. Thank you for coming on this most solemn of days.
Captain Courageous: It is always an honor and a privilege to come here to remember this day.
Lupinium: I have planned a performance for the occasion. It is always good to remember that life is to be celebrated as well as mourned.
Queen Cat: Thank you, Lupinium. Now let us all pause for a moment to remember the first responders who put their lives on the line, and those who lost their lives.
Like Burt said when we first met Baba Mouse. Practically blind, but excellent hearing. I notice Beatrix, having been caught out in panel 3, hasn’t bothered to whisper in panel 4. Nice touch.
On Saturday, the local fire department, in conjunction with the local and state police departments and and nearby first responder units hosted the first annual Touch a Truck Day. What does that mean? The fire trucks, ambulances, heavy machinery, etc. used by first responders were open so kids and families could climb on the trucks, ask questions, and learn about what these brave men and women do.
I was honored to take part in this event as a member of the local library. The county has a bookmobile that has been officially designated the life enhancement response unit. In honor of all first (and subsequent) responders, and all who make our lives so much better, here is a shout out on this most solemn day.

Beatrix, when you get to be Baba’s age, you’re going to have way more embarrassing photos, given the number of selfies you’ve been taking …

You told us about those pictures yourself, Baba. You’ve only yourself to blame when busy Beatrix digs one up.

They…
…went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
But unfortunately, the places they went didn’t take British currency,

Oh, that’s a Wicket who’s one big ol’ pain
Ain’t got time for one who’s so vain
Courtin’ days are done, rotter liked to roam
Baba’s days just got a lot better
Now the Robber Mice are off to defend
Got to get back Queen Mag’s wildlands again
Lonely days are gone, raccoons goin’ home
This crazy world’ll be a lot better

Will the biscuits come out flakey or dry?
Will Baba explain to the little ones the term horizontal mambo?
Will BCN show the picture on the 6 o’clock news?
Tune in tomorrow for answers to these and other heart pounding questions here, on As The Litter Box Turns.
