/// Count Alphonse and his horse-racing staff

dye this animal’s coat brown, and laugh.

    Longest legs win the race,

    so they plan to replace

his brown horse with this short-necked giraffe.

I’ll take this one. I’ve always liked a filly with long legs.

If you’re ever going to look at a horse’s rear end, go deep into the forest first.

There are things I don’t understand about the French. Why are there a bunch of well dressed men standing around watching this procedure? Why would anyone paint this picture?

I also thought that was a very tall horse, but then I saw the painting was by Toulouse-Lau-Trec. He probably painted those people as if they were about his height (4’8").

    Now this is hilarious!

Plus, if (even a rookie) one is stupid enough (and uncaring enough for the animal’s internals) to leave one’s watch on while doing such, one deserves to lose one’s watch.

Hopefully the animal can reject the watch without complications…

    Souvenir of Auteuil

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:1881 paintings from France" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string Auteuil, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this roughly jumbo envelope size, oil on cardboard painting.

Again, a slightly larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #1503 (7/29/16) (September 13, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 4 works by this artist have been used here (5 times total, including this Throwback Thursday), the July 29, 2016, strip being its first use. GoComics has deactivated the hyperlinks and removed the new lines in my comment and reply there; but, perhaps the text remains informative. The August 6, 2013, strip has the prior by him.
