Dudes, you are lying in wait for the raccoons, not standing out in the open on top of and on both sides of the wall. No wonder the raccoons have changed their minds.
But according to the raccoons’ plans, and using the Sept. 26 map as a reference, they’ll be gathering at their dumpster, on the other side of the meadow, past the “cool old tree,” (from which I expect Wicket the Wicked to emerge at some point.) Can’t wait to see what happens with that fire extinguisher!
OMC, look at Puck’s expression, somewhat like a jack o’lantern…and poor sweet Tommy doesn’t look comfortable with deception…
Can’t back down now…Roll for initiative! — Alea jacta est!
Before this is over, Popcorn may have a Homeric epic.
Lots of fangs today. Pucky fangs, Tommy fangs – situation serious. And will Tommy be in the middle of the battle? He’s too sweet, he needs out of there.
Real subtle ambush, guys. If I didn’t know the family-friendly rating of this strip, I’d be really worried about Wicket seeing this and thinking “Yum, a buffet!”
OT – Sad news. Our dear old boy, ShadowCat, left us this morning. He showed up on our porch in Spring of ‘22, weighing 4 1/2 pounds, trembling and hardly able to stand, with three paws on the Rainbow Bridge. Feral Momma HedgeCat must have showed him the way in and gave him her sleeping basket and shared her food and water, standing next to him. So he was clearly meant to be cared for by us. He was a loving old guy whose backstory we’ll never know. The vet said he was ancient, and gave us thyroid medicine that put him right and gave him some extra time. But he stopped eating yesterday, and fell asleep peacefully this morning. We could tell by the way he trusted people and craved being petted that someone, sometime, had loved him a lot. Don’t know what happened to cause this sweet, neutered, but not microchipped old guy to be out wandering and sick. He’s left a cat-sized hole in our hearts.
Strange coincidence: I just found a bouquet on the porch, sent by my sister for my 75th birthday today.
I accidentally hit the random button and got sent back to the Our IX Lives Christmas special. While reading it, I realized I hadn’t liked any of the series because it was published before I signed up. Most of the individual strips have fewer than 40 likes. If you go back to reread it, please take that extra moment to give it some likes? It was too good to have so few likes. It starts on 2016/12/14 and goes through Christmas Day.
A comment on BCN’s Facebook page said, look, there’s a member of the Mole Underground next to Tommy in panel 3. A green head kerchief-ed mole. Could it be…???
I wonder how big Georgia paints the originals. Surely she paints bigger and then it gets shrunk down a bit for the final product? If not, I’m super impressed at all the detail she fits in there.

Has the one mole in panel 1 collapsed with boredom? He/She seems to be taking a kip.

F.Y.I. If you are sitting down to a card game with Tommy and Pucky, their ‘tell’ is fangs showing.

Puck’s look in panel two reminds me of the awkward fangs the Woman sometimes gets. Same emotion, I am sure.

Would they lie to you? (oh yeah)
Would they lie to your army? (oh, no, no no)
Now would Puck say something that isn’t true?
Oh, could that sweet Pucky bear tell lies to you?
The cats know what’s in store
Trying to end a war
They’ve made a plan
And are on the air
It’s way past sunset
And raccoons aren’t there
(Allegedly) They’ll make it, make it
Would Puck lie to you?
Would he lie to you some time? (oh Monty, would he lie to you?)
Now would he say something that wasn’t true?
So hey, Monta-boo, would he lie to you?
Told you straight, no intervention
To Monty’s face, no deception
May be the biggest fake
That much is true
Could be some mistake
That is misleading you
Would Puck lie to you?

Is this all part of the deception, or is the plan starting to fall apart. Stay tuned!

That’s a lot of moles following a guy who had his deck cut by a mower…. a Montague, by any other name would smell as mole’y.
I hope the Montagues do no harm to the embedded reporter, Tommy.
How many of these moles are with the resistance?
And won’t dig underground when ordered?

Let’s play I Spy while we wait for the raccoons, or tomorrow’s BCN, whichever comes first. I spy…21 moles? 22? Including one in a turban. Your turn.
