What would be the effect if Scrabble began allowing hyphenated words, with the hyphen as a tile?

I have always used Webster’s Third International as the definitive resource for challenges. But I once played with a friend who only would accept words in the Scrabble dictionary, and it was maddening. If it wasn’t in there, she wouldn’t accept it. Lovely human being, but boy was she a stickler on that point.

    …‘Oh, but it should be a term…

…a derogatory word for the poor…

    …someone too poor to buy a cake…

    …in other news …

…here in the opening words to Donald Trumps new autobiography: …

… It was a dark and Stormy night…

…and the opening words to Joe Biden’s: …

… It was difficult times, no one knew who was the Hunter or who was the hunted…

If we ALL start using it enough, it may soon be included in all the best dictionaries. How many points would it be?

As though this matters to me! I am not a “cakesniffer” (if there is such a word, or we can coin it), and I haven’t played Scrabble® in decades (yes, literally decades).

As a result, rather than the problematic humanoids scattered across the panel, I am more focussed on the yucky tapeworm at the bottom left. I hate tapeworms! (And don’t try to fob it of as “just an eel” when I can see clearly now that it is indeed an insidious, offensive, yucky tapeworm!)
