Duh, because golfers only play their own ball while everyone uses the baseball.

Huh? Pitchers do get to choose their baseball. And the rules for what defines a golf ball are just as strict as for baseballs.

He’s right about baseball not needing more rules, though. I say we turn back the clock to 1972 and eliminate regular season interleague play and the Designated Hitter.

Baseball’s rulebook has endured with fewer changes than any of the other major American sports for 150 years.

In golf, the guy who has to hit it is the guy who gets to choose it. So why not apply the same rule to baseball? Let the hitters choose the baseball!

Most pitchers don’t have to chase their own balls. They usually come back to them at 90 miles an hour in the solar plexus.

When I went off to college back in the paleolithic age, I found myself assigned to a phys. ed. session in which tennis was the chief activity. Each student had to purchase a can of tennis balls. I wrote to a friend who’d gone off to a different school, and he wrote back, “Hey, at least you can replace the balls that you lose or destroy. I have swimming, and we have to dive naked, and we can’t replace the balls that get damaged.”

Actually pitchers can request a new ball if the one they have does not feel right. Then a new ball is put in place every time the old ball hits the ground, fouled into the stands or gets small smudge on it.

If golfers used the same ball, they would never make past the 3rd hole. Always lost in a lake or the weeds. Or perhaps even through someone’s window.
