A beautiful Anthem! And Mona sings it so well. Long may their Demolecracy reign! I say everyone hugs Montague to let him know he is forgiven! Even Wilfred Brimoley agrees!
I’m really glad to see Mole Brimley on board with the new regime. I was worried he would be a hard sell on demolecracy, but he appears to approve. Yea for all.
Georgia came in late yesterday and liked a bunch of comments and added some comments inside threads, which means they won’t show up as featured comments. She made this reply to @Gloria Fleming’s comment about how none of us predicted Magazine’s new title:
“Thank you!! And I confess, I was very anxious this one would be guessed lonnng before this moment! I’m delighted it was such a surprise, as very silly as it is!”
0h, say can you dig,By the Big Pink House walls, Where so rudely we came, While the cats were still sleeping. At the raccoons’ dumpster, The swoosh of their vacuum,Gave proof through the night, That the opossums were right.
Considering Montague’s rather Napolean-esq pre-battle actions, I am hearing “La Marseillaise” as the mole national anthem – possibly a nod to “Les Miserables”?
I know this is a little late – but, I believe moles have pink noses. I think they’d be cuter like that, too. Just a suggestion for the book. Love the story!
Such an obvious question (and off-topic): has there been any thought of working with a toy manufacturer to make/sell toy Elvises, Pucks, Lupins and Goldies? etc? in characteristic poses and expressions? Would be amazing!
I know Sunday strips rarely follow the storyline of the weeklies, but I would love for this Sunday to show us how Popcorn recorded events for posterity.

So, they’ve come to peace with “Kiss From A Rose?” I guess that’s moleocracy in process.

Seal: Mole National Anthem
Ba ya ya, ba da, ba da da da da, ba ya ya
Ba ya ya, ba da, ba da da da da, ba ya ya
Ba ya ya, ba da, ba da da da da, ba ya ya
Ba ya ya, ba da, ba da da da da, ba ya ya
…….
There is a field of flowers where wildlife stays
We, the moles, do pledge our support to maintain
Love remains the standard that must always remain!
…….
And do you know through sun and snow
We dig for our friends and our neighbors wherever we see!
…….
We are the moles who are blessed in the field
Ooh, the more we see our friends the better it seems
Whether in sunshine or gloom
There’s plenty of room for our friends!
…….
All our blessings to all of our friends
All of our blessings to all of our friends
We’ll never fail, our love will not go away
We have been blessed in the field!
…….
And do you know through sun and snow
We dig for our friends and our neighbors wherever we see!

An unanswered question is what the mole anthem was before Montague introduced Kiss From a Rose. Some possibilities:
Digsie
The Unternationale
La Moleseillaise
Any other ideas?

Is the tune set to Maurice Ravel’s ‘Boléro’?

No idea what that tune is supposed to be, the ba-ya-ya makes me think of Earth Wind and Fire’s September. Lovely to see demolecracy in action!

Moles get knocked down, but they get up again
No one’s ever gonna keep them down
They put cats down, but brought them up again
Tommy’s never gonna wear a frown
Monty was foamed down, but he got up again
Cured of one mega bonkers meltdown
Thimblefist sings LOUD, but I can hear again
No one’s ever gonna hate that sound
Lip sync if your voice stinks. don’t blink while thimbles clink
Moles sing the song that reminds them of the good times
They sing the song that reminds them of the better times
Ba-ya-ya, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-ya-ya
