Outside Coleman’s Irish Pub in Syracuse the traffic light has the green on the top and the red at the bottom. The car behind would still let Frank know when to go.

Will the car behind him let him know with a beep or a “nudge”?

That ought to be a feature for a “bachelor fridge,” so that old food in the back having turned green triggers a persistent warning beep.

I’ve been on both sides of that coin. I also saw a bad wreck at a traffic light several years ago. The light turned yellow and instead of going through it, the car in front stopped. The car behind it thought it was going to go through, and hit the gas. It wasn’t pretty.

My car pings if I am too slow to go on the light changing to green. It’s taking away my wife’s job.

You used to be able to take a nap but lately the thing to do is play on your phone.

They live in Miami. One has 0.03 seconds to go after the light changes before the advisories start.

Nowadays it takes a beep to get the driver ahead to put down his/her phone and move on. You know any time you can see the driver’s tilted profile and right ear that a phone has his/her attention.

Once I went for a drive after smoking some weed. The first stop light I came to, I just sat there looking at the lights.

I always wait until I’m sure cross traffic has stopped, my sister in law got seriously hurt because she went on the green light but the girl going the other way was texting and didn’t stop on the red

The definition of a New York second: the amount of time between the time the light turns, green, and the car behind you honks its horn

They might let you know even if you do go when it changes.

Totally unrelated except for the red – green part. In Asia, red is a good-luck/good-fortune color, so in the stock market reports, they use red for stocks that go up and green for those that go down. Really confused me the first time I saw it.

People hardly honk here in Phoenix, when I went to visit my brother in Las Vegas when the light turns green the car behind you honks within half a second, it was like I was in a drag strip and the Christmas tree was a Pro light – 3 yellow at the same time then green. Me: ZZZZ

That technique works well in Edmonton, with 15 second right turn signals it gets you to the front of the queue.. stopped at the light while the car you nudged goes thru.

The thing I find irritating is when the light half a block away has been green for some time and the next car in that lane is the one right in front of me that’s dawdling along but makes it to the intersection just in time to go thru on the yellow while I get stuck with the red.

This is true: “One second is the time that elapses during 9,192,631,770 cycles of the radiation produced by the transition between two levels of the cesium-133 atom.” I swear that sometimes there are a couple of Cs-133 atoms canoodling in the car right behind me that can’t wait to get to that 2nd cycle.

I hesitate for a few seconds when the light turns green—saved my life more than once. I was spared being hit in an intersection by a driver running stop signs and lights being pursued by the police (I heard the sirens in distance and decided to wait to see where it was coming from) and spared by folks who refuse to stop at stop signs. I let the drivers behind me honk their horns and if they like, move around me and get hit.

I can’t get over how many people graduated from the same driving school Frank did! I’m behind them several times a week – thank you cell phones.

no need to wait for honking around here. all you have to do is watch the guy ahead start inching forward in anticipation. i always tell my wife, see, if you don’t start moving, the light won’t change…

It is illegal to be texting at a traffic light. Even though you are stopped; you are still considered to be driving.
