On the day after Christmas, we get a visit from 2 very talented officers (?) that seems to have nothing whatsoever to do with the late, unlamented Xaviera, and with the second strip in a row to not have the “guest writer: Eric Costello” credit, it appears we’ve reached the start of a new story. When I’m convinced that a new story’s started, I go over to the Dick Tracy Wiki and update the page I created, “List of Dick Tracy stories available on GoComics”, naming the story and providing a start and end date. I normally name the story after the main villain, so here it is:
Xaviera Libris (September 17-December 24)
I also noted it was written by guest writer Eric Costello.
The only other thing I have to add here, is that normally when there’s a standalone strip (or Minit Mystery) that’s directly in between 2 main stories but not really a part of either one of them, like yesterday’s Christmas strip, I normally place the standalone at the end of the earlier story. I didn’t do that this time because I believe in giving unto Costello what belongs to Costello and giving unto Curtis what belongs to Curtis.
Well we know who’s back at the helm ! LOL ! The graphics are curiously interesting or is it just M.C.’s choice of “paints” ?
What gems or questions will they convey to Tracy and will it involve garage guy or some criminal stuff being done by the escaped Yetti and that other guy ?
Somehow Siegel and Shuster did not just happen to drop by the station. Time will tell what it’s all about. Take them out to lunch, Tracy. Don’t have them take up the practice of sitting around the squad room drinking coffee.
New Story! And it appears that Mike is back at the scriptorium!
But what are Cleveland creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, doing in Tracyville, in what appear to be State Trooper uniforms? And why was Tracy expecting them without having informed Ms. Steffihawk beforehand? (Yes, of course I know that these are not those “Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster,” but the coincidence is pretty blatant. We also know that Mike Curtis is the “third largest collector of Superman memorabilia in the U.S.,” and has been exhibiting and writing about Superman since 1973, per Wikipedia).

A superhero story arc would be a welcome relief after that last one.

I see Tracy has a new hat and his hand mended quickly. Must have been a leather case. The wonders of modern medicine plus a good health plan.

Has Tracy’s city ever been revealed, or is it like The Simpsons’ Springfield?
