If you read some of the earlier Garfield Comic strips, from 1989 and 1990, you will find that Garfield says that he hates February. There is even one part that I like where it is a Monday in February where he claims that he hates February, pours coffee on himself and says, “Don’t even talk to me about Mondays in February”.

I used to own a great deal of Garfield books. Look around February 1989 for a story on Garfield hating February. There is also one the following year where he says he doesn’t want to go through another “dismal February”.

I guess the state that Garfield lives in didn’t get the memo that the groundhog didn’t see his shadow this year.
