I used to chew off my nails, but I refused to file my teeth sharp enough, so now I trim my nails with a Dremel tool.

    .

    .

Not really. But I did see a Vet show where they trimmed an animal’s nails (or was it teeth?) with a Dremel tool.

I’ve been working through eye surgery that began just over a year ago. Middle of last summer, the GF took me reluctantly to a salon for my first ever pedicure because I wasn’t seeing well enough to effectively trim my toenails. I always thought women went to those places due to either a lack of flexibility or joint mobility, or they just wanted to feel superior, having someone wait on them hand and foot in a low skill job

We had a server yesterday whose nails were French style with black ends. It looked like a mechanic who had grease under her nails.

I am an old guy (mid 70’s). It’s not easy for me to reach my toenails and then do precise clipping once I have reached that far. So, about 5 years ago my wife dragged me into a nail shop. Heck, the foot and calf massage was worth the $30 the pedicure cost. I was immediately hooked. And, for the record, the nail shop I use has a substantial percentage of male customers.

I find it hard enough to scrub floors and do all the other housework with short nails. I never have/never will have long or fake nails. Too impractical, they’d poke right through the rubber gloves. Do these women just sit around all day? Hire it out? No wonder there’s so many complaints about financial hardships.

Speaking of which… how did, before steel clippers were invented.. folk manage to trim their toenails? Those cavemen/women must have had some gnarly toenails.

That’s no laughing matter. My wife had an employee who chewed his nails. That was one of many hygiene issues this man had! He had the appearance of a man that been stranded on a desert island, on a daily basis. Luckily, he worked the Midnight shift so he probably could’ve scared off would-be robbers. ;-p

I’m one who finds long, fancy fingernails offputting, as they seem to indicate that the person must be pampered and unable to put in a day’s work in anything requiring the use of their hands. But then, I’m a musician who plays bass guitar who needs short nails, so maybe I’m biased.

I have never met a man who appreciates the time and cost of a woman going to a nail salon. I gave it up years ago, and just file them as needed. I can do my own acrylics and gels, but really don’t care anymore.

I go the podiatrist for a simple toe nail trim since I can’t see well enough to cut them myself. Medicare pays for it and the doc gives a foot massage and examines the feet and nails every time. I’ve always kept my finger nails short. I played clarinet and piano for years and it’s very hard to do with long nails. It just became a habit to keep short nails.
