When I was a kid, mu uncle and much older cousins bought a crated L-3, WW2 surplus, at a military auction. They spent 3 years using the manuals that came with the crated object to get it up to FAA compliance. Of course, the FAA inspector assigned to certify it airworthy finished his inspection and across my uncle’s copy wrote two words. MAY FLY!
I remember one time many moons ago, there was a mayfly emergence near Appleton, Wisconsin where it was so bountiful that is was picked up on weather radar.
