Recently, there’s a strong argument being made that immigrants, legal and particularly “illegal,” are in part responsible for the fact that inflation has dropped lower in the U. S. than almost anywhere else in the world. They also have substantially contributed to the remarkably strong economy here as well. But I’ll agree in an instant that we MUST “regularize” and rationalize immigration and greatly reduce the chaos on our southern border.

I get a bit annoyed by too much of the media suggesting that both sides are capable of this stupidity. Only the nutters of the GQP with the complicit support of the rest of the GQP members will and are doing this.

More than 24,000 Chinese nationals crossed our southern border in FY 2023, which is 13X more than the prior year. African migration is surging as well, yet Clay seems to think all the migrants are Hispanic.

Today, however, substantial numbers of insubstantial congressional Republicans are contemplating an ignoble act whose imprudence exceeds even its pettiness. These Republicans could, by denying Ukraine the material means of resistance, hand Russian President Vladimir Putin a victory that might be just the beginning of Putin’s war for the restoration of “Greater Russia.”

Putin, who has made two wagers, quickly lost the first when he failed to quickly overrun Ukraine. He might, however, win his second wager: that the United States will live down to his disdain for what he considers its decadence. Surely his contempt is partly a response to former president Donald Trump’s political durability, which Putin understands is evidence of America’s retreat from seriousness.

Impeach away, for what good it did for the dems.

This is the PG version of what Republicans are going to do at the Southern Border if we don’t vote Blue up and down the ballot. Go look up the Berlin Wall from the East German side except add machine gun nests. They’re going to unleash those and just eliminate anyone coming to the border.
