Ok, you two, the last time you starting doing ‘that stuff’ April ‘showed up’ and Elle wasn’t particularly pleased with being in that condition ‘at her age’ so ‘cool your jets’ ! ! !
It’s nice to see them happy on the cruise and with Gordon and Tracey getting engaged to get married, this comic is living up to the better part of the better or worse title!
I sure hope that Lynn Johnston doesn’t plan to turn the tables and bring on worse things to happen after Easter for the next month of April.
They didn’t share, but I have no doubt that my parents did a lot of “that” when they went on their cruise. I do know that they did participate in a lot of the activities. One time there was a costume party, but you had to make your costume, and you could use things on the ship. My mother had a white dress. She took a bunch of paper doilies from the tables to make a veil, took some dead flowers from cleared tables, painted her face green with eyeshadow & went as a seasick bride. My dad took a bunch of sheets, napkins, etc., and went as Sheik Dam Rotten of the Rotterdam (their ship). Dad won!
I’ve been on one cruise in my life. It was a 3 masted tall ship. It normally held 120 people, but there were 50 on our cruise. It was very informal and laid back. Having dinner at the Captain’s Table meant, you had to put a shirt on, shoes were optional. BBQ’s on the beach, sleeping on the deck under 10 Bajjilion stars. . . Not a cruise for everyone.
I felt my age a few days ago, my nurses aide stepped into my room when they were playing that new cruise line commercial that uses the old theme to the “Love Boat” and I said something about how appropriate it was that they were using the love boat theme for a commercial about the Princess line cruises. My aide had never heard of the Love Boat and had no idea what I was talking about.

Ahh, memories. Ships are great fun. I’ve been on 13 cruises. One was the Mexican Riviera, the others were in the Caribbean.

It’s not the size of the boat, but the motion of the ocean that counts.

Yeah, cruise ships were a lot more fun 30 years ago. Now you just get to be annoyed by helicopter Mommy & Daddy and stumble over their kids ;-)

I really wish you could hear this; Home fires Burning by Carolyn Arends
I still remember our first December
The warmth of your touch and the spark in your eyes
We took desire and built us a fire
I know it will last us the rest of our lives
So let it rain, let it storm
We’ll keep believing ’cause love keeps us warm
We are making our way, we are twisting and turning
Through it all we can see that every day
We are living and learning, we’re finding a way
To keep the home fires burning
Days turn to years, we live through our tears
We laugh at our fears ‘cause we’ve known from the start
Though life makes us older it can’t make us colder
As long as this flame still remains in our hearts
So let it rain, let it storm
We’ll keep believing ’cause love keeps us warm
We are making our way, we are twisting and turning
Through it all we can see that every day
We are living and learning, we’re finding a way
To keep the home fires burning
Sure there are days when some misunderstanding
Lets in a cold winter chill but the fire never dies
’Cause you and I always remember to tend to the embers
And I know that we always will, I know we always will be
We are making our way, we are twisting and turning
Through it all we can see that every day
We are living and learning, we’re finding a way
To keep the home fires burning
