    I worked my share of weekends when I was younger. I also worked holidays because “since I didn’t have young children any more, I didn’t need the time off”.

    Is the idea behind that joke actually true in the US? I never encountered anyone with the idea to have people work on the weekend on short notice. Not even, when the IT broke the company’s server – only to detect that the backup-tapemachine was broken for a year.
