THere are games and games that games masters thinks are games.

“The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” comes to mind. Also donkey basketball.

Polo and jousting

So many can be played with animals. Don’t expect them to hold cards.

Playing with your dog or cat is good for you and them.

Goat Yoga…well, it can’t be very meditative so might as well call it a sport.

Baseball and football are played with horses and pigs.

Horse racing and Cat Juggling

Shot Put and… wait… I’m being told that they don’t use turtles for that.

Polo comes to mind. Also rodeo.

Anything Floof wants to play…and Sirius is sooo cute!

Frisbee Fetching!

Does sport fishing count? (I am against catch-and-release. If you’re going to cut the fish’s mouth with a hook, at least humanely kill and eat them)

Horse is a version of basketball—but it’s really a spelling game. Would a spelling bee count? :-)

Dressage, stadium jumping, cross country, and carriage driving.

(Reminds me a bit of a Shepherd-Husky cross we had who could “peel” a brand new tennis ball in under 30 seconds. Never got to the playing-catch part with any new ball, he but made us laugh like crazy as he ravaged his new prey.)

Believe me it is tough to play sports with a 2.5 lb chihuahua.

Most pet sports consist of show the pet a toy and tossing it.

Nightly I play mouse with my 2 younger kitties. Rolling and tossing their favorite toys up and down the hallway (as I brush my teeth). It tires them out!

If you go out to the birdbath, the Cardinals and the Blue Jays are playing today.

Burro Racing. A donkey and a human are partners in a brutal cross-country mountain race that is much harder on the humans than the donkeys — and the donkey is in charge. Read the book “Running with Sherman.” (While you can borrow or rent a burro for the race, the real players live with and train with their partners)

Now that I think about it, I remember that in polo the real athletes are the ‘ponies’.

I guess y’all have never been to a rodeo and watched bull riding and calf roping. Then there is barrell racing.

Gym assignment? Is this hell?

Why does the Puppy Bowl come to mind? It’s not played with humans, but sometimes its more interesting than the human game in the other channel.

I imagine Sirius would make a rather good agility dog.

My Shelties have competed in Agility, Herding, Rally & FASTCAT. There are lots and lots of canine athletic competitions
