Maybe Mayor Cherelle Parker and Robb’s friend, police commissioner Kevin Bethel, could use Robb’s idea for PLAY!

Guess Joe is trying to be a cool teacher to his fellow officers.

We all know human beings can be downright, stunningly awful. But, policemen have gotten a very bad rep, b/c “one rotten apple spoils the whole barrel”. So, Joe is actually not being a cool teacher to his fellow officers, he’s being a cool teacher to the community. We have a vast collection of various versions of law enforcement people in our repertoire of friends & every one of them are solid gold citizens & have taken flak for their fellow compadres who aren’t. Because, doncha know, they are ALL BAD.

I’m betting the ice cream police truck will come out again for the summer—hope Joe had it repainted after using it for Jojo’s birthday party.

When I was a kid the City had a street hockey team. The Penguins had just been founded a few years earlier. It was pretty informal. One of the best things was that the police would use their vans to drive the away team to and from wherever we were playing. They’d even hang around sometimes if they didn’t get called away.

I remember back in the 60’s having an Officer stop to watch us kids launch Estes rockets. He did count-downs for us over his bull horn. Sweet!!

Man, I wish this was reality.

Sadly, almost every cop I’ve met in my 60+ years has been a racist, ego-tripping bully.

No complaint here but you don’t have to LIMIT yourself to sports and other fun activities.

As a woman on TikTok pointed out in an excellent video, we as a society have privatized everything kids used to do for free. Want to play ball with other kids? Has to be in a league. Nobody can allow their kids to play in a park alone.

Sadly, I was a schoolgirl living near Kent State when four students there were shot to death. In fact, our school shut down for a day or two. Even though my head knows better, I haven’t been able to get over my fear.

I love how Capt. Ruiz was the first one to jump in! (And I’d love a close-up of the Tees!)

Only time we saw a police officer when I growing up was if someone was not well and they called for help. Police would arrive before the ambulance.
