Uh-oh, someone’s generic little blue pills are kicking in again.
And, of course, the women band members smile delightedly at the prospect that Mort Winkerbean will now be leaving them alone as he hits on Lillian the Lizard.
If Lillian is joining the nursing home’s traveling band, shouldn’t she be required to be a resident of said nursing home? For liability reasons and such? What if the Bedside Manor bus crashes on the way to a “gig”?
What happened to a quarter inch from reality, TB? You’ve moved well past reality and into fantasy.
This is feeling like those Family Guy/Star Wars specials, where they eventually started running out of the Family Guy cast to portray the Star Wars characters and just threw in a bunch of characters from Seth MacFarlane’s other shows.
For the uninitiated, the big bands in the 1940s had either a male or female singer or both. The females were of course called girl singers, and the males were just as obviously called boys singers. Doris Day, Helen Forrest, Jo Stafford, Dinah Shore, and Peggy Lee, among a host of others, got their starts as girls singers in big bands.

Those are some of the youngest nursing home residents you’ll ever see.

That’s exactly what you have there, Mort, but what about Lillian?

Morton Winkerbean, Undertaker: I THINK WE’VE GOT AN EATER!
Ed: I’ll get the oven on!
The “JAZZ BAND” nods hungrily.

If all those knowing smirks the jazz band members are exchanging means that Lillian is in for cruel hazing, I’m all in favor of that.

Old Maid singer to be correct. (Can she sing?)

I can’t see the humor of this slurred, snide remark toward Lillian. Why can’t men be respectful toward women anymore?

I think today’s setup could not be accomplished in three panels so it probably will be continued tomorrow when we will get the great joke.

Today’s strip kind sorta reminds me of the doris Day, Les Brown reunion.
