They changed all of the ports? How many ports does this phone have?

Samsung does this every so often. They change the shape of the port so you have to buy new stuff. Plus you get messages from certain platforms saying your device is “outdated” and therefore you can’t see their stuff. Fortunately I’m so old I remember life before cellphones. I can do without a lot of stuff.

I bought a new iPhone about three years ago. They had changed the port on the charger, but not on the phone, so I’ve been using my old charger that I’ve been using since 2016. Have they changed the ports on the phone now? If they’ll be using entirely new cables, I should probably buy a spare. Otherwise, I’ll end up having to buy a new phone if something happens to the cable.

We (my parents and I) have been holdouts for newer tech for years and only in 2022 did we get pulled kicking and screaming into buying smartphones. This was mostly precipitated by the carrier not accepting our flip-phones, even though we were told they were on the approved list and came from a different carrier that the new carrier was leasing lines from. Sigh…

I personally prefer the more flexible world of Android over iOS. The fact that I can very easily transfer stuff between my laptop/desktop systems and the phone without having to use a cloud syncing app as a “middle man” is nice. Just use any USB type-C to USB type-A cable to pull that off.

Mr. Pastis, you’ve misspelled that smart phone company, it’s spelled “Peachet”.

For all the times one has to upgrade since they come up with newer OS versions that won’t run on older hardware.

According to the Poison Control website:

“Peach pits and other seeds from the plant family Prunus contain a potentially dangerous chemical called amygdalin that can creates poisonous cyanide when digested. While swallowing a single pit is unlikely to cause cyanide poisoning, consumption of several unprocessed pits can produce symptoms.”

    Just sayin’.

Apple finally putting USB-C on their phones (almost a decade after everyone else, and years after they already did with the iPad) is a good thing. No more needing Apple certification for a basic cable, just the same cable everyone else is using at the same price (as long as you don’t buy from Apple themselves).

That’s exactly what happened to me just a few weeks ago, right down to the dollar amount (roughly).

I didn’t go for the thousand dollar phone, though. I went for the third generation SE. In addition to being much cheaper than the flagship version, it actually has features I much prefer to its overpriced cousin.

This is basically why I have a flip phone. If I want to do something more than talk or receive texts, I use a computer. And the texts I receive are mostly for 2-factor authentication.

Beware, not all USB-C cables and USB-C gadgets are the same. In very many , the hi-speed (USB3?) pins and/or power pins are not connected internally. Research, test, and then label or mark each cable with the results of testing in order to get the full USB-C gratification.

The peach pit company was forced to adopt the same ports as everyone else with their phone that came out last year. No more “forking out extra cash every time you upgrade a phone” business anymore!

Phones can have four ports: SIM card, headphone jack, charger port, data port. All of which the engineers are working hard at making disappear. Virtual SIM, Bluetooth communication and wireless charging are all here. After that, they will have something new to change every year to make you want the latest and greatest. (Mine is a reburb iPhone SE about three years old)
