Calvin’s idea is creepy and cool at the same time

I must admit Calvin’s idea does sound pretty cool.

But Calvin, the other kids are already avoiding you.

Someone obviously suffers from a lack of vision.

Being “cool” doesn’t work for us anymore, wish it did

have you tried using a magic marker?

I sometimes think mom or dad are sibling to Frazz and Calvin is his nephew. Or mom has some explaining to do.

Calvin’s right.

I had a teenage daughter that would get contacts to change eye color for the fun of it.

Does Mom have an at-home job? She’s often seen at a desk, writing or typing something.

You shouldn’t tell a boy that age that any part of him is pretty.

True Calvin. Thus the drugs and affairs and wasted money on strange hobbies.

Nothing wrong with dreaming, Calvin. But sometimes a mom just has to say “no”. Just don’t let that keep you from having thoughts and ideas that are a little out in left field!

Do they even make contact lens like those?

I suspect Mom was involved in a heist. She stole the typewriter from Wiley’s museum.

I’m an attorney, and I once considered getting the lenses that gave me vertical pupils, like a snake’s. I thought it’d be unnerving to people during depositions.“My God, did you see his eyes?! SETTLE! SETTLE!”

That could be sort of fun.

Well, maybe if every generation didn’t change the meaning of cool…

I use to have a pair of cat’s eyes and a red pair with flames around the edges.

My vet showed up at a party with cat’s eye contacts on. Very hard to talk to him.

That’s right, Cal. Adults grow out of ‘cool’ and into ‘what the heck?!?’

Any idea what Hobbes is aiming for in last panel?

Calvins thinking will get him to be a manager of Spencers one day.

Calvin’s salesmanship needs a little polishing.

I agree with Calvin, that would be cool.

My folks finally agreed to let me get contacts when I was a senior in high school, but my dad worried constantly that I would hurt my vision. “You only get one pair of eyes, you know!”

I’ve now been wearing them successfully, with several upgrades, for over 60 years.

I will never forget the ad I once saw that said that you could change your plain brown eyes to hazel, green, or blue. As a brown-eyed girl with low self-esteem, that angered me beyond belief.

Next, Calvin will be wanting vampire teeth

I knew a guy with an assortment of glass eyes for any occasion. One had the Marine Corps emblem, another was clear with a black widow inside.

One can only imagine what his teenage years would be like….

Hobbes can’t be bothered; he’s busy skimming rocks.

But Calvin, they have an idea of what’s the LOGICAL choice.

I can see Calvin working in the film industry, designing aliens and monsters.

Imagine double blood red eyes on Calvin. Or Hobbes.

What can be, unburdened by what has been.

I’d end up with an eye infection somehow

I’ve always wanted contact mirror shades.

I just discovered that kids in China (and elsewhere) are getting increasingly nearsighted and in danger of developing macular degeneration as they age all because they now spend most of their time indoors doing homework. Turns out that young eyes need regular extended periods in sunlight in order to fully develop. So Calvin and Hobbes will hopefully never need contact lenses (to see better at least).

And I thought he wanted “tiger eyes”

Maybe tell Mom you plan to start a David Bowie tribute act.

Cool is cool …….and Mom is Mom!!!!!!

Calvin’s right about that one. His parents are pretty boring people.
