And now the beginning of the “…don’t ask” comic strips featuring Michael and Edgar. The punchline is always the same. Only the injury occurring to Mike changes.

Rockin’ Edgar: The successor to the canine throne once occupied by a hero who died saving a difficult to warm up to human who only cared about herself. Many think it, although few will admit it……

Reminds me of a video I saw involving a dog and Frisbee. Human would throw Frisbee, dog would retrieve, repeat, having fun. Until dog had enough, went to just tossed Frisbee, turned it upside down, squatted over it and left a smelly deposit. GAME OVER!

At least Edgar’s smart enough to let go of the ball!

    I don’t get today’s comic joke.

In panel six, what does Edgar always do? Edgar actually brought the ball to Michael in panel six.

So THEN, why would Michael drill a hole in the ball and attach a heavy duty elastic to it?

Is the joke that a ‘university’ student who is taking journalism instead of physics, doesn’t know what would happen when you turn a rubber ball into an elastic yo-yo?

When I was a kid, my dad (an avid golfer) received a golf ball on an elastic string, the idea being he could practice in the backyard without retrieving the ball. I gave it a whack, the ball skimmed the grass, then shot back and whacked my ankle on the bony part. I wonder who designed that and how many were sold before it was taken off the market.

When playing ball with your dog, sometimes the dog wins.

    And sometimes the ball wins.

I had a dog that loved to chase balls. I taught him to release the ball by having a second ball on hand.

Either that or Michael would be like “Farley, where are you? Yoo hoo!” then asking the others about why Farley has not been around.

Michael keeps getting weirder looking every day. As our appearance determines our career and station in life, it is evident what will become of him:

Deep in the bayou, a group of uncouth, rough-looking men do a ceremony with tiki torches. Their leader says the candidate has passed all initiation and presents the candidate with a sleeveless jacket with a Rebel flag on the back

Leader: Alright men, let us give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Dixie Mafia; Michael Patterson!

Our dog loved to chase a ball or stick but while she brings it back, she refuses to give it up until I take it from her. Its been her game for 2 years now. Even the professional trainer eventually gave up on her. She drops it for a treat, but picks it up faster that I can bend over to grab it. She really loves that part of the game

Michael goes to college and cannot avoid this? Maybe when he gets back he can enroll in a course in physics.

That is the problem with language and journalism classes, they don’t teach you a d@mn thing about physics.

This might work differently if Mike kept some treats in his pocket. Soon as the dog learns he’ll get a treat for bringing the ball back, the game will work a lot more smoothly.

This is what my dog used to do. Well, not the whole elastic thing, but not retrieving a toy. Then I got a black Lab. Retrieving is his job. My other dog figured it out by watching him.
