A friend of mine criticized me for eating tongue. He said that he would never eat something that came out of an animal’s mouth. I notice that he did eat eggs.

“Mine comes from my Spinnerets. No, it does NOT come out of my butt!”

On a more serious side, the silk of a black widow spider was used in bomb sights as well as other sighting mechanisms. during WWII. It made a big difference in winning the war for the Allies. Check it out, you might find it interesting it interesting.

Wool and cotton are OUT when it comes to clothing these days. Everything is made from polyester (PLASTIC) which is just a pollutant. My wife ordered some clothing from Amazon because the ad said 100% cotton and when it showed up 40% cotton 60% poly she wanted her money back but was only able to get 50% back because 100% required shipping it back to China. NOT HAPPY!

….but it is purty amazing……The spider starts by pulling silk from a gland with it fourth leg. The opposite fourth leg is used to pull out multiple strands of silk from about 20 additional silk glands, creating a balloon-like structure.

I think the movie “Field of Dreams” was inspired by the musings of a spider thinking on how to trap a bunch of flies: “If you build it, they will come.”

spider webs are like having sex with a woman. when you run into one, you can’t seem to get out of your clothes fast enough.

Is shearable ‘skin’ a survival skill sheep developed?

If we started wearing animal skins as clothing for warmth, killing the animal to get the skin, I wonder how long it took for sheep to evolve their coats so we could shear them, leaving them alive to grow a new coat?

She belongs to a drum corps called the Spinnerets. They travel the country in an effort to educate people that their web silk does indeed emit from their abdomens

Humming Birds & spider webs:

Humming birds love black widow spider webs for nest building. A place I worked in Phoenix had a large patio area that was perfect for them. The patio was about 30ft by 30 ft. In the center was a 2 ft lower area about 15 by 15. The red brick retaining wall that formed the low area had a horizontal brick cap that created about a 2 inch overhang. This was the home of many black widow spiders, the most desirable web for humming bird nests. There were 2 large olive trees that overhung the area and are highly desirable for humming bird nests because of the tiny forked branches to build on. In the higher area around the outside were humming bird flowers to feed from and we hung several feeders also. There were signs warning employees not to sit on the brick walls due to spiders!

Watching a humming bird gather webs for its nest is amazing. First they detach one end of the web that blows freely in the breeze. This requires knowledge of wind direction and strength. Then they detach the second end and fly the web to the nesting area, again letting the free end blow in the breeze. Finally they arrive at the side of the nest where they place this particular web. This is truly a thing of beauty to watch !

Poor sheep has a pig’s nose. These comics are getting too far from the original.

Spinnerets may be located at the back of a spider, but they are wondrously designed.
