Could it be that Gordie has a past that nagged at him until he couldn’t bear it any longer and admitting it would result in a very long term incarceration ? We still don’t have a clear undisputed function of this woman who now presents a most puzzling predicament to the chief of detectives.
Wow, maybe Pierce was somehow involved in the savings & loan scandal in American banking back in the late 80s. Between the s & l reference & the news of Ivan Boseky’s passing, I’m having 80s flashbacks.
I like how Charles doesn’t make the exposition panels only talking heads. He varies the POV and shows pertinent flashbacks. This is the way Gould presented the strip. Great work, Charles.
Wow, my home state gets a shout out! I still remember Old Court Savings and Loan. Jeffrey and Karol Levitt were grotesque caricatures of gluttony and greed who would have made good Tracy villains except for being comparatively not evil. Unlike say Ivan Boesky (who coincidently, died yesterday) Jeffrey was just not a good speculator and truly believed all his deals would work and make money. I would like to see Tracy meet them at a fine restaurant where they have told the waiter to “just leave the dessert cart” and then proceed to empty it between the two of them.
COP GAL: He stole a truckload of bank pen chains, linked them together, and scaled down the side off the empire state building and stole a lot of Doc Savage’s ripped shirts to sell to fans. We lost track of him when he moved to Argentina to live off his filthy profits. Guess he came back, huh?
TRACY: And you’re just leaning this NOW?
COP GAL: Well, he fooled us by not changing his face and using his own name.
1-DT: Well, if you won’t leave, you might as well have the job.
2-BRENDA STIRR: I DON’T WANT IT – I’M A PODCASTER…
3-…and I’ve just learned David Hyde Pierce worked at an S&L before he took the job on FrasierDT: So? BRENDA STIRR: So I think he was afraid of having to return to that job after they didn’t hire him to be on the NEW Frasier show.
DT: Is that what his note to his family said? BRENDA STIRR: Not exactly. He’s not really that “Pierce” but it’s a good hook for my podcast. DT: Hmmm. Speaking of… SAM – BRING THE HOOK AND GET THIS CRAZY FISH FACE OUTTA HERE! BRENDA: Can I quote you on that…?
Question: Does anyone here know of a print newspaper that publishes Dick Tracy on Saturday? I want to subscribe to a different newspaper and drop the Chicago Tribune. For 5 Sundays CT subscribers and purchasers have gotten 2017 repeats of ComiCons, CollectorCons and everything but the furryCon instead of the current Sunday strips. I’ve sent 4 e-mails to no avail and I’m fed up. I found one that publishes everyday except for Saturday. I can’t dump the CT until I find a Saturday replacement. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Good morning™, everyone!
“His bank” makes it sound like he was the head boss, and maybe he was. He certainly had a big office.

Tracy looks very concerned in panel one.
Story’s moving at a nice, crisp pace!

“I believe he may have been the guy who invented the financial fraud behind the subprime mortgage crisis that cause economic panic in the US.”
Tracy mused for a moment, and sighed, “Glad he shot himself. I’d have killed him if I knew that.”

I like the Old Court logo – a melding of the bank’s initials with a percent symbol :)
