Nixon was a consummate opportunist. If he were alive today, he would eagerly embrace the MAGA cult, and he would milk its suckers for all the money he could get. His southern strategy was largely responsible for how the GQP brought the racists and bible thumpers into their anti-government coalition.
In 1972, I told my conservative friends (in those days there was such a thing) that Nixon was a crook as he ran for reelection. The night Nixon resigned, in August 1974, I called one of those friends and said, ‘I told you he was a crook.’ My conservative friend admitted I was right. When Ford pardoned Nixon, I told a friend as we were driving back from church that this is a bad precedent, And now here we are 50 years later, with our federal courts tying themselves in knots trying to placate another Republican crook, and it’s true, this one is worse than Nixon, but both of them are accused of committing crimes against the American political system itself. So n Nixon does not look better; he set the precedent.
And at this time, only one state court system has been left to uphold the rule of law that a Trump-supporting judge in Florida and a Supreme Court majority are dithering so as not to offend their master.
I disagree with the Nixon statement. Tricky Dicky looks just as bad now as he did when he was ousted. His record is just a blot on the tradition of the American presidency. It’’s just that Buttercup has taken chicanery a lot further than TD.
If history proves anything, it is that malefactors like Buttercup likely will skate on all but the most heinous of his crimes. And he’ll still get soft sentencing on most of the worst.
I’m voting for the guy with the most arrests, indictments, impeachments, and raids on his private residence, because that’s the guy the establishment wants to get rid of for putting the American people first.
Ford should NOT have pardoned him. Perhaps the malignant narcissistic psychopath would have been a bit more reticent to… nah, he doesn’t know history nor does he read.
Lying felon traitor Trump the oath breaking insurrectionist still wants to attack the USA.
Trump accused of encouraging ‘domestic terrorism’ during early morning Fox interviewThe entire panel on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” reacted with dismay and disgust after watching a clip of Donald Trump seemingly approving of violence if Judge Juan Merchan sends him to jail as the result of his conviction on 34 felony counts.
In a taped interview with the hosts of Fox & Friends run early Sunday morning, the former president was asked what the impact of his jailing would have throughout the country and he blithely replied, ""I don’t know that the public would stand it, you know, I don’t. I think I think it would be tough for the public to take, you know at a certain point, there’s a breaking point."
That led noted historian Michael Beschloss to bluntly say the embattled former president is encouraging violence among his rabid followers.
There used to be a service alley full of trash cans called “Richard Milhous Nixon St.” in Whittier, Tricky Dicky’s hometown. I can’t find it on any map now, which leads me to believe he’s being rehabilitated. Has Whittier’s town council gone red?
Nixon was a political genius with a deeply flawed personality. That genius manifested itself in such accomplishments as the clean air act and the opening to China.
Trump is an ignorant sociopath that somehow created a brainless cult around himself.
’It’s obviously doable’: Why Trump’s prison time would be in a ‘double-wide’ trailer
Former FBI Director James Comey said that prison officials could easily and safely house Donald Trump by placing a double-wide trailer in the prison yard.
Do you mean “incompetent” by getting millions of vaccine injections into arms within months? Passing an infrastructure bill? Helping avoid a recession? Protecting Democracy while avoiding (so far) WWIII? Not consorting with dictators? Believing in our Constitution? No porn star or Playmate stories? No repeated bankruptcies? No criminal prosecutions? Help me out here, send some facts to support your opinion.
Biden in a coma is better than Trump any day of the week.Being sane is a big selling point. And you won’t see Biden wasting his time traveling from golf course to golf course or grifting public funds towards his own hotels / properties. What DOES the so called billionaire need to raise funds for anyway? He couldn’t raise the cash to pay his fines? He’s lying about what he’s worth for decades and the only thing he’s an expert on is bankruptcy. We don’t need his expertise in the white house.
I’m watching all the GOP leadership denouncing the results of the trial. There is only one word to describe them: crybabies. They didn’t get what they wanted so they are screaming and crying and laying on the floor and kicking their feet. Metaphorically, of course.

I like it. Of course I liked a different version that showed him in his hands-spread victory stance saying “I’m not a crook! (by comparison)”

Trump’s crimes do not absolve those of Nixon.
.
Just like Hunter’s ‘crimes’ don’t absolve Trump’s crimes.
MAGAts are not capable of comprehending that concept.
