JJ, why the mosquito?

Say, how bout them mosquitoes? Don’t sit where the wind isn’t blowing that’s where they congregate.

That part of the job sounds more like what Arlo would like to do, use every pot cooking large quantities of food while chatting in the kitchen among a small friendly audience.

Soooo… The story just turned a new corner as the shine wears off their dream to move to the coast.

I’m pretty sure I can hear my mother saying, “That’s why they call it work.” Janis is a mature woman, surely she knows by now that no job is fun all the time.

If “unusually slow” implies that things are usually slow, then would A&J be attaching their cart to an anchor?

Janis is losing the rose tint off her glasse, looks like!

Bait and switch move?

Apparently and unfortunately for Janis, there wasn’t one hunky fisherman to be seen the entire day!

Reality strikes again.

Getting tired of this storyline, just move already. JJ can simply draw cartoons where the economy turns around and the business is a success and they live happily ever after with their son, his wife and their grandkid.

Isn’t ANYBODY worried about Ludwig?

Sounds like the bloom is coming off the rose already.

Just build an addition on this place and move in

It seems that JJ doesn’t really want them to move there and be happy near their kids. He keeps throwing up roadblocks just when you think they’re getting ready to move.

Probably your not going to be able to go home, because the house sitter has changed locks and even the Law cannot get her out. Good news, Luddy likes her.

I’m ignoring the call of retirement jobs. Almost three years in and I’m still okay with not having to be somewhere.

This is amusing because…..???

Second hint in two days this move will not happen.

I think we can assess that the kids are hard working and good cooks, but lousy business people with no marketing skills or acumen. Recipe for failure in the service industry.

Ha ha ha?

So, why can’t they move down and just not work at the cafe at all? I mean, just live there? I think this is heading to them leasing the guest house so they can go down whenever they want and staying at their other home more of the time. Which is perfectly lovely. Since it doesn’t look like J is going to give them a baby, it’s not necessary for them to be there all the time anyway. Who knows what lurks in the cartoonists mind?

Restaurants around the country are shuttering, and inflation and steeply declining numbers of customers are the primary reasons given. Is JJ hinting that the deli is about to close?

It would be interesting to see a Ludwig side plot. The nation is under a heatwave. Let’s lighten up.

Taking something you like and turning it into a job kills the fun for some people.

That’s “work” in a nut shell: “drudgery”.

slow days in the restaurant business are a nightmare for everyone.

Tried a local Italian deli and bakery yesterday. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Sandwiches only. $10.99 each, but they make two meals for most people. The rest of their offering is imported Italian food and in-store baked goods. They’re very good, and have a new sandwich of the week to draw people back in again.

Learning that they are making large batches of stuff and freezing it, is not my idea of a deli I’d do a return visit to. If I wanted frozen leftovers, I’d eat at home. YMMV.

Sometimes doing nothing is more exhausting than doing something.

Go home Arlo and Janis, before it is topo late. There is no place like home.

Bad when you have to work at work.

God I hate this new way of imposing adds it stinks.

Easier to do 10 hours’ worth of work in 8 hours than it is to do 6 hours’ worth of work in 8 hours.
