So, this theater without the wifi phone chargers and weirdly huge cupholders, has moved from showing 1935’s Phantom Empire, to ’41’s Citizen Kane, to ’43’s Stormy Weather. Expect the MCU to appear in this strip in 2087.
If only Crankshaft had exploded their little boy Max into deep space! Then she could stare at the heavens in a futile effort to spot the tyke, and when Chinbeard asked her what was wrong she could say “Don’t know why there’s no son up in the sky.”
Let’s all end up with a smirk, to celebrate our joke that a 7 year old would make! (Tom stole it from his 1922 copy of “Butter Brinkle’s Rib-Clutching Guffaws and Various Tomfoolery”!)
Meanwhile, there are people lined up at the snack counter, people lined up at the ticket counter, toilets are overflowing, and a fight has broken out in row 15..
For those wondering, the high-larious japery is: “MADE YA LOOK!” It was funnier when Pee-Wee Herman did it. I guess PubeyChin was worried he spelled it “Stormy WHETHER,” snort chuckle guffaw! I think it would better as “Stormy Weathers.” (Meth Head Shaggy gets tapped on the shoulder) “Hello. I’m Stormy CARL Weathers. Eye of the tiger, man.” (hauls arm back, swings and Apollo Creeds him all the way to 1972! Or…1982, 2017, the Mesozoic Era, who even knows with this strip)
In the third panel, Generic Blonde Woman is actually sneezing on the toxic mold spores wafting out of the Valentine. The Management apologizes that the AI doing the lettering mistook the sneeze for the word “GOTCHA.”
The real joke is that while the marquee and poster say “STORMY WEATHER,” they’re actually showing “Starsuck Jones III: Rise of the BandanaBanalaDeLoreans,” whose contract specified a ten-week run. They figure they’ll get more customers if they advertise a classic movie instead of Masoné Jar-Jarré’s big-budget flop.
A nationally syndicated humor strip other than “The Family Circus” using a “Made you look!” joke as its punchline. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: OH, FOR THE LOVE OF…!
Ha ha, it’s funny because if he had made a mistake he would have had to climb back up the ladder and move the letters. The ladder that is still in place. Total time to correct, one minute. No wonder he was so scared.
OK… WHAT?! He looks shocked in panel two as if he saw a mistake, then gives her a knowing glance as if whatever he did was planned. And are we supposed to guess?

If the back story is still valid, the marquee could have read as Stormy Daniels – that would have been funny.

??? OK, sorry, guess I’m missing the joke here. The sign isn’t misspelled. It reads Stormy Weather just like it’s supposed to.

When the owner has to do menial tasks instead of hiring someone to do that equals a cheap owner or cash strapped/failing business

Maybe “Storm Danials” was the meaning here? I don’t think that’s what it meant.
