Let’s be honest here, folks. Luddy looked healthy and happy. The sitter might have created many trash bags, but she cleaned up after herself! Good job!
I was today old when I realized (some of) the significance of the GoComics icon for this comic. It shows Janis stretching up to pick an apple while Arlo precariously holds her up to reach it. Janis is expanding their horizon while Arlo tries to maintain their balance. He’s rooted, barely, she’s reaching for the stars/forbidden fruit. Perfect choice of icons.
Back in our house-sitting days we almost always got gift “premiums” from the owners for leaving their place better than when they left it. Water-spots off the glass shower doors, oiled laundry-room door hinges, vacuumed under recliner(s) and couch, leaving the change/earring/doggy-treat inevitably found there. Did curb the trash for pickup though.
As a house/pet sitter, if the client does not tell me when garbage gets picked up, then the bin will get left until I figure it out. Its not unusual for clients to forget that tidbit. Half the time, they don’t take it out and I’m left with a full garbage bin in the house that I must put out. If you are there for an extended time (more than 2 weeks) you do eat a lot of take-out and it is more trash then when you are at home. I always bring my own food, but have space issues with fridges that are full/half-full with the client’s food so I can only have so much with me. Can’t leave it on the counter either so their pets don’t eat something they shouldn’t. She probably did forget to put the bin out for pick-up. Most housesitters are adults, not prone to having a “party” in a client’s house because of liability issues, and the risks to the pets/property. Give the girl a break, she cleaned up and left the house in good order and Ludie was a happy, content cat when they returned. Good petsitters/housesitters are hard to find!!!! I know, my client list is a 3-inch binder!!! 17 years in a couple months. Retiring soon.
We actually had a lot of garbage to put out for pick today – two 13 gallon bags! Normally it is only one bag, but the garbage pail in our office was full and had to be emptied – this is done 4 times a year at most and mostly it is full of shredded paper.
Also maybe three times a year, we have to put out our outside pail at the curb for its garbage to be taken.
Our small pails – 2 in the bedroom, one in each of 2 bathrooms, one in the basement along with our kitchen pail which has the small pails added to it is what goes out weekly.
When it is only 2 people there is not as much as garbage as my parents had with 3 children (who all lived home until married).

Didn’t the garbage collectors come by while they were away or did she put all that out there as soon as she knew they were coming home?

Party! Called it!

Rookie mistake, not hauling the garbage away and dumping it somewhere else.

A&J better check out what’s in those bags to get an idea of what transpired while they were gone.

Looks like she never took it to the curb.
AJ might want to check with the neighbors to confirm no parties.

How much of what Erin tossed in the “garbage” is Arlo’s “precious memories”? And did Janis pay her to do that?

On the next episode of “CSI – Trashcan”…

Our house is always spotless when we return from a vacation, because we weren’t there to create the dust that needs to be vacuumed.

Wondering if they even contracted with her to take it to the curb. Guess we may find out.

Who still writes cheques anymore? Would Erin even know what to do with one?

I can see no specifics were given about when and where to move the trash to be picked up.

Obviously Erin didn’t go to Catholic school with nuns for teachers or she would’ve learned how to dispose of evidence properly.

The pizza box in the garbage container may be one clue as to what celebrations transpired in their absence.
