Brings to mind the old story (probably an urban legend) about the guy who wanted to see what it was like to drive really, really fast, so he found a long stretch of straight highway out in the desert, strapped a JATO pack to the top of his car, and took off. But, way off in the distance from his starting point, the road eventually curved to avoid a ravine. They found him splattered on the far wall of that ravine at the end of a mile’s worth of skid marks.
ha! reminds me of a commercial decades ago where a little Toyota Corona was lined up for a drag race with a rocket car called the Green Monster. At go, the little car takes off, puttin’ down the drag strip, and meanwhile the Green Monster has to warm up its engine. It finally blasts off, tearing down the strip, but the little car ends up beating it by a foot! (check it out on YouTube…Toyota Versus the Green Monster)
