This is shaping up to be sort of like a typical Perry Mason or Matlock plot – Borden gets there and finds Gabe already dead, but the cops think Borden did it. Except, in Dick Tracy, the cops don’t make those kinds of mistakes (or at least, they never did when Gould was writing.)
MONDAY OT: Going to read through a new book. Well, actually write the battle sequence at the end. Just been so long I can’t recall which name belongs to which chara. Sheesh! you’d think with 50+ comic book credits(not all scripting) and about 30 novella and books under my belt, I’d have at LEAST the dim wits to work up character detail sheet in advance, for just such a merry occasion!
Then again, we’re talking someone who, in a delicately underplayed Peter Lorre voice (emphasizes the aura of menace) informs the pillow that putting on the pillow case will be sloooow torture, when making the bed…
1-FATTY BELTBUCKLE: Get me Drucker’s General Store. He doesn’t answer? Get me the owner of the Knight’s then.
2-BORDO: I’ll play ball. No sense taking this to extra innings. Why take a bean-ball to the head when you’re holding all the batting helmets.
3-FATTY: SPEAK ENGLISH, WILL YA? Are you going to sign over the team to me or not?
BORDO: Yes. Anything to avoid the kind of embarrassment that prevented Ted Kennedy from being re-elected to the Senate…wait a sec. He always got re-elected even when photos of him drilling some chick on his sailboat like he was a Texas Roustabout at a dry well got published! Go ahead – give me and the Knights some free pub, Tubby! CLICK
Quivering, shriveling dried up husk? Yeah Baby! Keep going! This strip needs more color! I was going to say Quaking and shaking……but you completely ate my lunch! Nice work.
Here’s an idea for a GoComics-style Easter Egg before the end of this storyline: displayed on Gabriel’s wall is a framed “Tip Top Comics” cover from the 1940’s with comic strip icon Nancy (drawn by Ernie Bushmiller) on it!

Good morning™ and happy Canada Day to the Canadians!
It’s a date! Meet me at eight! Let’s see how much it will cost. Gabriel did say that the price went up after Sarah discovered she was being tailed.

Bordy must have done something really nasty by the way he’s sweating

Good morning™, Whimering Simps !
Gabe’s got Borden all wrapped up and wont let go until he is but a quivering shriveling remnant of a dried up husk.
P.2. reminds me of a Crumb illustration; the rounded face, drippy sweat and teeth gritting and how the lower lip goes up with the slight overlap.

Will Borden kill the mastermind? If he doesn’t the current story line will easily last through September

Somebody in today’s strip is very nervous and it isn’t the guy with the mutton chops.
I have returned, just in case somebody noticed I’ve been on vacation.

Another safety lecture for Diet Smith from yours truly
On June 24th, 23 people were killed in South Korea byfire and explosions at a lithium battery plant.
Would advise Diet to switch to horse power. With real horses.

Or in tomorrow’s (or later on) strips, Borden will shoot the Col. Sanders wanna-be.
