One of my hobbies is listening to Old Time Radio, and I’ve recently heard about the enormous sacrifices everyone was making during WWII. Ration stamps limiting meat, rubber, gas, everything. Couldn’t drive more than 40mph. If you had more than 5 tires, you were required to sell the surplus to the Government.

But today, these phony flag-waving “patriots” refuse to sacrifice ANYTHING. They threw tantrums about the “oppression” of wearing a stupid face cloth to stop the spread of something that killed a million Americans.

If they were around in the 1940s, we’d have lost the war.

As we have learned, the mask thing is more subtle than it first seemed. It is true that a plain surgical mask (or anything short of a carefully fitted N95) is going to do little to stop you from inhaling airborne virus particles; the fit’s just not tight enough. But it’s also true that the same mask, or even just a couple layers of cloth, will stop the majority of virus particles exhaled by an infected person—and one of the sneaky traits of the Covid virus is that symptoms don’t develop until after the infected person has been contagious for a couple days. So, you don’t wear the mask to protect yourself from others; you wear the mask to protect others from you, and as a result all benefit. Obviously a concept that Americans have trouble with. Like roundabouts.

Of course, the masks were nothing new. They looked pretty much like the ones people wore during the pandemic of 1918. And even then, there were people who resisted, and official urgings to wear them. But the point here is well taken, that the president led the fools this time.

Most people don’t understnd enough about statistics and exponential series to realize that panel 5 is the key to mask success. A mask doesn’t have to provide 100% protection. Just enough to keep R0 below 1. In fact R0 was only slightly above or below 1 for most of the pandemic. Masks saved a lot of lives, but could have saved a lot more.

The MAGAts keep saying that we are all better off financially because of Trump. Well, that is certainly true in my case. If he hadn’t made those cuts, Covid would most likely have been contained in China, my RN son wouldn’t have died of Covid at 56, and I wouldn’t have inherited his retirement fund. So, financially, yes, I’m doing great.

Trump has said that no one could have foreseen the Covid pandemic. Well, someone did.

The Obama administration established the White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense after the Ebola epidemic of 2014 made the need obvious. Their job was to set up 40 clinics in hot spots all over the world, whose job was to monitor the local situation and immediately send for adequate help to contain any threat. One of those clinics was in the Chinese province where Covid originated.

To verify this information, search for “Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents.”

The dissolution of the office by the Trump White House was part of the budget cuts needed to give permanent tax cuts to the wealthy along with temporary ones to placate the rest of us. The office’s establishment was a direct result of learning from a past epidemic, highlighting its importance. When questioned about the slow deployment of coronavirus prevention measures in the U.S., President Trump stated, “I don’t take responsibility at all.” It was not just his responsibility, it and all the problems it has caused are his fault.

Traitor Trump, as a malignant narcissist, is literally incapable of caring about anyone or anything that isn’t himself. He wouldn’t have cared if twenty million Americans had died of COVID if he’d been re-elected.

And bad news for Traitor Trump’s fellow racists: all twenty million could be so white they glow in the dark and he wouldn’t have cared.

By the way, it’s hilarious that Traitor Trump was concerned about looking weak. He is weak, and always was. His own father couldn’t stand him because of his weakness (and even more for his cowardice). Traitor Trump is the biggest coward in the history of American politics, and the biggest crybaby in the history of crybabies.
