During WW I when the ability to deliver good food to the front, or the opportunity to rotate men from the trenches back for ration a lot of troops discovered the nutritional value of rats. They’re not very big, but eating them is more socially acceptable than serving up that sergeant you really don’t like.

When I used to live in the rural areas, my indoor-outdoor kitty used to leave me “gifts” outside the door – such as dead mice. Before eating breakfast and bringing in the kitty, it was enough to definitely lose one’s appetite!

It’s rare that a weekday Garfield strip is actually funny enough for me to LOL at. This one had me laughing till my sides hurt! I don’t know if it’s the rat’s feet sticking out, or Garfield’s remark about needing a tetanus shot, or both, but this one is darn good. Well-played, Jim Davis, I applaud you, sir!

For my experience, just a wide open area to play with it. It doesn’t look very lively so it’ll just be a nice ball to play with. Dead rat was caught and dispatched by our rat terrier many years ago was often taken over by the three cats as a plaything. I don’t see Garfield being interested any anything he can’t eat.

From the amount my rats eat of my garden, I recommend zucchini blossoms, tomatoes, cucumbers and eggplant. Oddly they don’t touch the zucchini….
