Actually, (in my admittedly biased opinion) bagpipes can be quite pleasant to listen to, when properly played.
Now, now, that was mean. I actually LIKE to hear the pipes. (When they are played well of course.)
A guy at the CA north Renfaire (decades ago) had bagpipes from a half dozen cultures and he’d tell you all about them.
They say that the bagpipes were really invented by the Irish. They dropped a boatload off in Scotland as a joke, but the Scots didn’t get the joke!

Good bagpipe playing is amazing. Learning to play the bagpipes…that’s a whole different story. But it’s still not as bad as beginner oboe.

Someone got my wife a recording of 47 different versions of “Amazing Grace”. If I ever hear another bagpipe, it will NOT be by choice.

@CHRIS, I think that I’ve heard bag pipes being played a while back, But the big question is How can you tell when someone is playing them well or not ? ? To me it sounds like an animal is being abused or tortured
