    Dear Spike,

Truly tragic news. If she ran off with a coyote I certainly pray she is not now being canine trafficked in a puppy mill in California.

And I, Snoopy, watched “Women Talking” on Prime last night and it was just that. 1 hour 44 minutes of women talking and 1 hour and 44 minutes of my life wasted that I will never get back. You can Count on it and you’ve been warned.

It’s a classic move. I’ve seen it a thousand times. Your woman leaves you for someone close to you and then dumps them for someone else shortly after. Rinse and repeat.

In 1977, the answer to Spike’s question would have been, of course, Star Wars. Probably followed by Smokey and the Bandit.

There haven’t been any good movies all summer. I know last year’s strikes threw a spanner in the works, but there were movies that came out in the spring, like Dune, Ghostbusters, and King Kong, that could have made credible summer blockbusters if the studios had held them back. (I say that, but I was already very annoyed that they pushed Dune from November to March.)
