I assume that’s a typo in the first panel. “Seis Esquinas” would be “Six Corners.” There is no word “esqiunas” in the Spanish language and I doubt that there is a Spanish word with a “q” not followed by a “u” in any Spanish word.
Hmmm…. the last panel of Sunday’s strip showed footprints on the floor. Assuming Ms. Randle went ahead & waxed the floor, SOMEBODY walked on it after the argument & the waxing. Maybe a clue, maybe not, you never know with these Minite “Mysteries”.
One hot salsy chika ! P.3. Very interesting look on Milonga. Indifferent with the thought of “I’ll get by even with you gone for I am the star here !” For all the whinging (LOL) about the art yesterday I would say it’s looking crisp today.
Well, we have the obvious suspect now: Juana Randle!
It will turn out she is Celestine’s step-mother and original dancing instructor. Willing to do anything to support her step-daughter she has murdered Milonga (the cad!). But, since Juana will be able to prove she did not commit the murder it is safe for Juana to mention the argument.
1- MARIE JUANA: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die! I keed you, Senor! I simply wax the dancers. And myself – would you like to see? No…?
2- MARIE JUANA: …So I hear Celestine complaining about the terrible job I do for her. I can’t see so good no more and I might have accidentally waxed her cat instead of her pu… DT: UNDERSTOOD!
3-: …So she demanded that I be fired. What ees even worse, my useless son agreed because I also waxed away his mustache – an unfortuate accident. To be fair, his nose looks a lot like his leetle “thing”. That ees all I can tell you, Senor.
DT:I think I’ll call this case “The Wax And The Swain!" I’ll get Ricardo Montalban to play the swain. And Hervé Villechaize to play Marie Juana. And Tess to play Celestine – she could use a good bush-hogging in the south 40…
- Weighted lines aren’t used much. It almost looks like one of those follow-the-number sketches where you have to draw the whole thing without lifting the pencil from the paper.
- Instead of the pane being like a photo of a room, the pane is the room, or at least the bottom of the frame is the floor. This isn’t always the case, for example torso compositions, closer-than frame, or where a view of the floor is important. However, characters walking on the frame as though it were the floor seems common for Leo.
I say “interesting”. These aren’t my favorite composition features, but they work.
Anybody ever see an old Al Jolson movie called WONDER BAR?
The woman knifes her male partner to death during an apache dance number in front of a large crowd. Club owner Jolson knows he was an abusive lout and covers up for her;planting the body in the b ack seat of a car where he knows the driver is drunk and likely to kill himself.

So someone has not seen how a woman of her age, grace and dignity would sit.

Guess disco isn’t in Celestine’s repertoire or else she should have switched arms for the pose in the second panel.

Let’s hear the tale she is about to tell, kind of interesting !

Evidently the short torso and long legs is the artist’s style.

I just took another look at yesterday’s installment and it looks like the person in the second panel that’s examining the corpse is Dr. Sivana…

A couple of interesting features of the artwork:

I wonder what started this argument.

Is Celestine a jilted lover who exacted revenge?
Or perhaps being replaced and incapable of accepting the demotion in a coherent manner?
