It’s kind of hard to fault Earl’s reasoning but it will still likely put him in trouble again.

With dumbbells, I bought one of each weight which meant working one arm at a time, but that’s OK.

Remember the cartoon Hazel? … I recall it from the last page or so of the Saturday Evening Post. One memorable ’toon showed the man of the house exercising by struggling to lift a bar bell. He leaves, sweating profusely, and Hazel (the maid) picks up the barbell and walks off with it in one hand.

Opal, just do push-ups evey day until your arms are strong enough to bring the weights in from the car yourself. The weights will wait for you.

I’ve had to take the box apart outside and piece meal the items in to the house. Such as flat pack items. It took two sales people to put it in my car. Thank goodness all that stuff has slowly made it out of our lives.

Well, Opal. You’re the one who concerned about her arms. Maybe you should bring them in. And besides, Earl’s not exactly Mr. Reliable, ya know.

I have something similar for my wife. She insists we go out for walks for our health, but complains bitterly if I don’t spend 20 minutes waiting for a parking space near to the door rather than parking back in the parking lot where there are lots of empty spaces.

At 14 my mom wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday. I told her a 110 lb. barbell set. Later she pulled up in the driveway with one in the back now our old rambler wagon and told me I would have to get it out myself as she couldn’t. Sooo, I went out dropped the lift gate picked up the box, threw it on my shoulder and walked it into the house. My mom took one look at that and her comment to me was “What the h### do you need with that?”

It reminds me of how it seems so many people when they go to a fitness place to work out, fight to park as close as they can to it.
