Maybe he’s reading the novelization of “Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.” Lots of droids (close enough to call them robots) getting blasted. Roger roger.
I miss the bookmobile, when I was Kevin’s age (back in the 60s) every Friday during summer at 10:15 walked two blocks to the local stop and would get an armful (limit was 8) of books to read before the next Friday. We had an in-school lending library so that helped during the school year. To paraphrase W. C. Fields “A librarian drove me to read books, and I never properly thanked them.”

If Miles smiles any harder, he’s gonna get stuck that way.

The first “grown-up” book I read was at Kevin’s age. “When Eight Bells Toll”, by Alistair MacLean.Anyone else want to share?

Anyone can find a book that’s perfect for them, even Kevin.

God bless the librarians. They were so responsible for nurturing my early interests.
