Panel 2. That’s right- have Celestine breathe all over the suspected weapon found at the crime scene, thus contaminating any DNA on the gun further. The Scene of Crime Officer (SCO) or Forensic officer – (what ever label you want to give him) handling of the gun in a handkerchief frequently must destroy / contaminate any useable forensic evidence recovered. Next thing on the agenda is for the Forensics Officer to take the gun out for coffee or a pot of tea and interview it. Edmond Locard (13 December 1877 – 4 May 1966) was a French criminologist, the pioneer in forensic science who became known as the “Sherlock Holmes of France”. He formulated the basic principle of forensic science: “Every contact leaves a trace”. This became known as Locard’s exchange principle. Source Wikipedia. Thank you muchly Wikipedia.
1- CELESTINE: I do not waive my Right to remain silent! EENSPECTOR: We do not have that Right here. You have been watching too many Green-go Police shows.
*2- SAM ARGENTINO: HERE! Hold this a second so we can get your prints on it. Then we can mark this case closed!
3 CELESTINE: Do you theenk me stupid, Senor??? You believe I will take that gun and shoot you all and make my escape. Well I know that you have UNLOADED THAT PISTO-LA!
SAM: Ummm…that probably would have been a good idea before I tried to get your finger prints on it. Give me a secondo, por favor… EENSPECTOR:Aye chihuahua, Sam is el stupido!
It looks like Celestine speaks English fairly well and Eric is at least giving it a go at giving her ESL vibes. “Hard words” probably work. I believe Spanish would have an article in front of “truth” though, so that would translate pretty well instead of dropping the article. There are some other interesting linguistic issues in mimicking a Spanish speaker making English errors. It almost seems more like she is thinking in some Arabic dialect rather than a Latin American Spanish dialect. However, I appreciate the effort.
