You can not say that Trump didn’t incite an insurrection. He just failed at it, as he has a history of doing with just about everything he has ever attempted. His announced “blood bath” isn’t going to succeed either. 2000 of his supporters have been indicted, 400 have been jailed. I doubt if any of them are showing up for another attempt. He has sponsored Jan 6 anniversary rallies that were poorly attended. He has been indicted 90 something times, found guilty of fraud and sexual assault and no one rioted. Many Republican politicians, even those who don’t denounce him publicly will not support him when it comes down to it. They just don’t want to lose MAGAt votes. And, I suspect that even most of those who actually believe his nonsense will be busy that day if possible jail time is part of the plan. Even if they do manage some damage, it could not possibly be as bad as what would happen if Trump were elected.
This in no way negates the possibility of a few MAGAts shooting up a school or something, but as far as a big event, I just don’t believe there are that many hopelessly stupid Republicans
“If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we’ll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it’ll be a far safer place to meet than our country. " — Donald Trump to Elon Musk. Maybe they could set up a town there. Like Jonestown. I’m not sure that Venezuela will grant entry to a convicted felon, though.
Sixty years ago, as I was approaching the age to vote, my father told me that if I do vote, then I must accept the results. That’s how democracies survive. A long lost concept. One often hears “he’s not my mayor…or president, or whatever.”
“Pow! Zoom! Trip to the Moon” ~ Ralph Camden in “The Honeymooners” back when spousal abuse was considered a topic of comedy. Than God those days are behind us. The topic of comedy part.
I was born the year Roosevelt first became president and grew up witnessing all of his terms. I still think of him as the only president we’ve ever really had. Of course those were the same years that Hitler came to power and rampaged through Europe. My wife is the same age as me and she was born and grew up in Germany so the two of us are quite cognizant of the contrast between the two systems. We know the difference from our own experiences.
I left the United States in 2012 and aside from a couple of short visits in 2014, have not been back. With all the divisiveness and political lunacy from then until now, my choice seems to be a wise one.
No matter who wins the election in November, I doubt that the United States will be a safe or pleasant place to visit in the next few years, let alone, live in.
People have been saying — and I think this goes back at least to Reagan — “If he gets elected, I’m leaving” before elections, and “He’s not my President” afterward, but you don’t have to strap yourself to a rocket, you can just leave. Yes, there’s a lot of fuss and bother and some expense, but people do it all the time, it’s not dangerous or extraordinary. Lots of other countries to go to, some have free medicine for everyone, some have 4-day work weeks, some have no* guns, some have no* racism - go ahead, if America under a certain President or Party seems just too awful for you, go on and see how wonderful it can be to live in one of those countries. Sure is weird that people keep pouring in here when it’s so awful. -——————————
= or very little, there’s hardly anyone there not of the majority race, etc.
Threatening to leave the country if Trump wins is the equivalent of the spoiled brat who threatens to run away from home. Everyone knows you’re just doing it for attention, and everyone knows you’re not really going to go through with it.
Does anyone actually think it will make a difference who wins? The communist liberal dweeb democrats have destroyed this Country beyond repair. We have lost all respect of other country’s, our economy is in the dumpster, and a lot of people can’t tell they have been screwed over for the past 3 1/2 years. I’m not saying they are idiots but, yes, I’m saying they are idiots.
Oh Lord, I’m done rending my clothes and pulling out my hair. I can only accept America’s terrifying fate, that if the other candidate wins, the nation will continue to go on just as it has.
